2025 Indy NXT
The 2025 Firestone Indy NXT Series is the ongoing 39th season of the Indy NXT Open wheel car, open wheel auto racing series and the 23rd sanctioned by IndyCar, acting as the primary support series for the IndyCar Series. This is the third year of the championship running under the Indy NXT moniker following its acquisition by Penske Entertainment, the owner of the IndyCar Series, in 2022. Teams and drivers All teams use Dallara IL-15 cars with an Advanced Engine Research, AER produced Mazda sourced 2.0 litre engine and Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, Firestone tires. Indy NXT (pronounced "Indy Next"), previously Indy Lights, is an American Minor league, developmental automobile racing series sanctioned by IndyCar, currently known as INDY NXT by Firestone for sponsorship reasons. Indy NXT is the highest step on the Road to Indy, a program of racing series leading up to the IndyCar Series. A similar series named Indy Lights filled the developmental role for the Champ Car, CART series, and ran from 1986 to 1993 as the American Racing Series and Dayton Indy Lights from 1991 to 2001. Andretti Global is an American motorsports organization with teams competing in the IndyCar Series, Indy NXT, Formula E, and joint entries in IMSA and the Australian Supercars Championship. Starting in 2026, Andretti will also operate the Cadillac Formula One team in collaboration with General Motors. Nolan Allaer (born March 5, 2002) is an American racing driver. He currently competes in Indy NXT driving the No. 11 for HMD Motorsports. Career Allaer started racing at age 6 and in 2008 was competing in the Florida Karting Championship Series. His first race in the SCCA National Championship Runoffs garnered him a third place finish in the Formula Continental class. The following year at the SCCA Runoffs he won the Formula Continental class over Simon Sikes, current USF2000 Championship, and finished third in Formula F. Allaer joined Team Pelfrey in 2022 to compete in the F1600 Championship Series earning two wins and nine podiums. HMD Motorsports is an American racing team in the Indy NXT series. The team is owned by Henry Malukas. Indy NXT (2019–present) 2019 The origins of HMD Motorsports traces back to BN Racing's Indy Lights operation as the team had entered the 2019 Indy Lights series. David Malukas ran for the team in 2019 with a limited budget. Toby Sowery won the Sunday race at Portland for HMD Motorsports/ Team Pelfrey. Niels Koolen (; born 25 May 2001) is a Dutch racing driver. He currently competes in the 2025 Indy NXT series, driving for Chip Ganassi Racing. Bryce Aron (born September 30, 2003) is an American people, American racing driver who competes in the 2025 Indy NXT driving for Chip Ganassi Racing. Aron raced in the 2023 Euroformula Open Championship with Motopark Academy where he achieved three wins and five podiums, finishing fourth largely as a result of forgoing the final three races. Jonathan Browne (born 10 July 2000) is an Irish racing driver. He most recently competed in the 2025 Indy NXT with Chip Ganassi Racing. Career Browne started racing in Irish and British karting competitions before moving into the UK's Formula Ford championship in 2018. He finished his first year 16th but improved to fifth overall during his sophomore season, taking a win and four further podiums. Browne also dominated the Formula Ford Festival in 2019, winning from pole for Cliff Dempsey Racing. The Irishman once again took pole in 2020 but finished the race in second place behind Rory Smith. Sebastian Murray (born 2 April 2007) is a Scottish racing driver who currently competes in the 2025 Indy NXT season with Andretti Cape Indy NXT. He previously competed for Chris Dittmann Racing in the 2024 GB3 Championship. Career Karting Murray had a karting career which was mostly based in the UAE. James Roe Jr. (born 11 October 1998) is an Irish racing driver. He currently competes in Indy NXT driving the No. 29 Honda for Andretti Autosport and in the IMSA SportsCar Championship driving for Pratt Miller Motorsports.
