2024 Premier Volleyball League Season
The 2024 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) season will be the seventh season of the Premier Volleyball League. The season will start on February 20, 2024, with the beginning of the 2024 All-Filipino Conference and expected to end in the latter half of 2024, with the conclusion of the 2024 Reinforced Conference. Premier Volleyball League
The Premier Volleyball League (PVL) is a women's professional volleyball league in the Philippines organized by Sports Vision Management Group, Inc. The league began in 2004 as the Shakey's V-League, a women's collegiate league. Since 2011, the league became open to participation of corporate clubs and other non-collegiate teams. The Spikers' Turf has served as the men's counterpart of the league. History Shakey's V-League (2004–2016) The Premier Volleyball League was established in 2004 as the Shakey's V-League by Sports Vision Management Group, Inc. led by Jun Bernardino, Ricky Palou, Moying Martelino, and Rhea Navarro who were businessmen previously known for being men's basketball patrons. The Shakey's V-League was initially an inter-collegiate women's league with teams from the UAAP, NCAA, CESAFI among others playing in the league. Volleyball
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the programme at the Atlanta 1996. The adapted version of volleyball at the Summer Paralympic Games is sitting volleyball. The complete set of rules is extensive, but play essentially proceeds as follows: a player on one of the teams begins a 'rally' by serving the ball (tossing or releasing it and then hitting it with a hand or arm), from behind the back boundary line of the court, over the net, and into the receiving team's court. The 2024 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference is the upcoming fifteenth conference of the Premier Volleyball League and its sixth conference as a professional league. The 2024 PVL season was supposedly to have two All-Filipino Conferences, the same as the 2023 PVL season The 2023 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) season was the sixth season of the Premier Volleyball League. The season started on February 4, 2023 with the beginning of the 2023 First All-Filipino Conference and ended on December 16, 2023 with the co ..., but this plan was later scrapped. This conference was supposed to begin on February 17, 2024; but was later moved to February 20, 2024. A total of twelve teams will compete in this tournament; the two new club teams are expected to be announced before the start of the conference. 2024 Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference
The 2024 Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference was the eighteenth conference of the Premier Volleyball League and its ninth conference as a professional league. This was the second conference for the 2024 season. It was originally slated to be a merged tournament of the Invitational and Reinforced Conferences, but PVL Commissioner Sherwin Malonzo announced in a simultaneous interview during the commencement of the 2024 PVL Draft Combine that this would be a stand-alone Reinforced tournament and that the Invitational Conference would start in September. Twelve teams competed in this conference, which have been grouped into two pools. Each team would be allowed to reinforced by one foreign player.
