The 2023 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) season was the sixth season of the Premier Volleyball League. The season started on February 4, 2023 with the beginning of the 2023 Premier Volleyball League First All-Filipino Conference, 2023 First All-Filipino Conference and ended on December 16, 2023 with the conclusion of the 2023 Premier Volleyball League Second All-Filipino Conference, 2023 Second All-Filipino Conference. Premier Volleyball League
The Premier Volleyball League (PVL) is the top-level professional women's volleyball league in the Philippines organized by the Sports Vision Management Group, Inc. The PVL was established in 2004 as the inter-collegiate Shakey's V-League (SVL) until it rebranded to the current entity in 2017. Prior to becoming a full-fledged professional league in 2021, the PVL was open to participation of corporate owned semi-professional clubs and non-collegiate teams backed by local governments. The PVL previously operated men's and collegiate divisions before they were spun-off into Spikers' Turf and the V-League (Philippines), V-League, respectively, both are also operated by Sports Vision. The Creamline Cool Smashers are the most successful team with ten titles, which included the league's only Grand Slam in the 2024 Premier Volleyball League season, 2024 season. Akari Power Chargers
The Akari Power Chargers are a women's volleyball team competing in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) in the Philippines. The team is owned by Akari Lighting & Technology Corporation. History The Akari Chargers was organized by Akari Lighting & Technology Corporation, announcing its official entry into the Premier Volleyball League as the 10th professional club team. Akari's has been a longtime sponsor of the Adamson Lady Falcons collegiate volleyball team which clinched the 2019 Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference. Before the start of the 2022 reinforced conference, Akari announced that it tapped the Brazilian head coach of the Philippines women's national volleyball team, Jorge Souza de Brito to be its head coach. The team debuted in the 2022 Reinforced Conference. The 2023 Spikers' Turf season is the sixth season of the men's volleyball league Spikers' Turf, the counterpart of the women's Premier Volleyball League ''(formerly called Shakey's V-League)''. The Nxled Chameleons (stylized as NXLED) is a professional women's volleyball team playing in the Premier Volleyball League of the Philippines. The team is owned by the Akari Lighting & Technology Corporation. History The Nxled Chameleons was formed in 2023 as the second team of lighting firm Akari Lighting & Technology Corporation in the Premier Volleyball League; the first being the Akari Chargers. The Farm Fresh Foxies is a women's professional volleyball team in the Philippines playing in the Premier Volleyball League. History The Farm Fresh Foxies joined the Premier Volleyball League in 2023. They make their debut in the 2023 Invitational Conference. Jerry Yee is the team's first head coach and an initial roster largely composed of College of Saint Benilde players. They have committed to take part in the league for at least three years. Its owners meant to use the team's participation the PVL to promote the introduction of Farm Fresh's milk product in the Philippines. Quezon City Gerflor Defenders
The Quezon City Gerflor Defenders were a women's volleyball team in the Philippines which played in the Premier Volleyball League. History The Quezon City Gerflor Defenders, a private professional club supported by the Quezon City Sports Management Services joined the Premier Volleyball League debuting in the 2023 Invitational Conference. They have committed to take part in the PVL for at least three years. Prior to this, they have played in various other leagues and tournaments including the PNVF Champions League. The team had Edgar Barroga as its inaugural head coach. On November 9, 2023, during the 2023 Second All-Filipino Conference, the Defenders were put under investigation by the league after some of its players posted on Reddit in regards to various internal problems including wage issues. Foton Tornadoes
The Foton Tornadoes were a professional women's volleyball team in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL). The team was owned by United Asia Automotive Group, Inc. (UAAGI). History The team debuted in the Philippine Superliga (PSL) during the 2014 Grand Prix as Foton Tornadoes. The original Foton team would be renamed as the Chery Tiggo Crossovers heading the 2020 season. Chery joined the professional PVL in 2021. In June 2023, the revival of the Foton Tornadoes team was announced. They played with Chery at the 2023 PVL Invitational Conference At least seven Chery players moved to Foton. They have pledged to participate in the PVL for at least the next three years. 2023 Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference
The 2023 Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference was the fifteenth conference of the Premier Volleyball League and its six conference as a professional league. The tournament was originally scheduled to start on June 6, 2023, however, it was moved to June 27, 2023, due to the Philippines women's national volleyball team competing at the 2023 Asian Women's Volleyball Challenge Cup. This conference introduced three debuting teams in the league — Farm Fresh Foxies and Quezon City Gerflor Defenders as newly formed teams, and the return of Foton Tornadoes in the Filipino volleyball scene after the original team was rebranded as Chery Tiggo Crossovers in 2020. Philippine Army Lady Troopers is skipping this conference due to military training to most of its players.
