2023 Copernicus Cup
The 2023 Copernicus Cup was the 9th edition of the annual indoor track and field meeting in Toruń, Poland. Held on 8 February, it was the third leg of the 2023 World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold series – the highest-level international indoor track and field circuit. The meeting featured a world record attempt in the indoor mile run by Gudaf Tsegay. Although she failed to break the record, her time of 4:16.16 was still the second-fastest time ever indoors. Meeting records were also set in the women's 800 m, women's 60 m hurdles, and men's long jump. Toruń is a city on the Vistula River in north-central Poland and a World Heritage Sites of Poland, UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its population was 196,935 as of December 2021. George Mills (born 11 May 1999) is an English athlete specialising in the 1500 metres and 5000 metres. Biography He became British champion when winning the 1500 metres event at the 2020 British Athletics Championships in a time of 3 min 51.39 secs. On 16 September 2023 at the Eugene Diamond League meeting, with a third place finish Mills moved to third place on the British all-time list for the mile behind Steve Cram and Sebastian Coe with a time of 3:47.65. On 26 January 2024, Mills ran a personal best time of 12:58.68 in the indoor 5000m at the BU John Thomas Terrier Classic. Daniel Ellis Roberts (born November 13, 1997) is an American sprinter and Hurdler. He won a silver medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics and a bronze medal at the 2023 World Championships in the 110 m hurdles. Professional Roberts represents Kentucky. In October 2024, it was announced that he had signed up for the inaugural season of the Michael Johnson founded Grand Slam Track. As of 15 September 2024, Roberts holds the track record for 110 metres hurdles for Suzhou, China. On 27 April 2024 he clocked 13.12 seconds with a following wind of 0.8 m/s.
