2022–23 Liga II
The 2022–23 Liga II (referred to as the Liga II Casa Pariurilor for sponsorship reasons) was the 83rd season of the Liga II, the second tier of the Romanian football league system. A total of 20 teams contest the league. It is the seventh Liga II season with a single series. The first two teams will be promoted to Liga I at the end of the season and the third-placed and fourth-placed team will play a play-off match against the 13th-placed and 14th-placed team from Liga I. The last five teams will be relegated to Liga III. The season began on 6 August 2022 and is scheduled to end in June 2023. Liga II
The Liga 2, most commonly spelled as Liga II, is the second level of the Romanian football league system. The league changed its name from Divizia B just before the start of the 2006–07 Liga II, 2006–07 football season. It is currently Sponsor (commercial), sponsored by Casa Pariurilor, a betting company under the official name Liga 2 Casa Pariurilor. Format Since its inception in 1934, Liga II has had between 2 and 9 parallel divisions, with clubs divided based on geographic regions. But since the 2016–17 Liga II, 2016-17 Liga II, it changed to one group of 20 teams. Currently, the top six teams goes in the promotion play-off, in which the top 2 teams get promoted and the next 2 play a promotion play-off against teams from Liga I. Asociația Fotbal Club Hermannstadt (), commonly known as FC Hermannstadt, Hermannstadt, or familiarly as Sibiu (), is a Romanian professional Association football, football Club (organization), club based in the city of Sibiu, Sibiu County, that competes in the Liga I. Stadionul Steaua (2021)
The Steaua Stadium (), informally also known as Ghencea Stadium, is a multi-purpose stadium in Bucharest, Romania. It primarily serves as the home stadium of CSA Steaua București and the Romania national football team, replacing the former venue. The new stadium cost €95 million and is located in the neighbourhood of Ghencea. It seats 31,254 spectators. Notable events The stadium was inaugurated on 7 July 2021, with a match between Steaua and OFK Beograd, the same team with whom they had inaugurated the previous stadium back in 1974. It ended with a 6–0 win for the home team, with Bogdan Chipirliu being the first player to score in the new stadium. Asociația Clubul Sportiv Viitorul Pandurii Târgu Jiu, commonly known as Viitorul Pandurii Târgu Jiu or Viitorul Târgu Jiu, was a Romanian Association football, football club from Târgu Jiu, Gorj County. Unirea was founded in the summer of 2021 by taking over Farul Constanța's berth in the second league; the move was approved after Farul left the spot open as a result of its merger with Liga I side Viitorul Constanța. Clubul Sportiv Gaz Metan Mediaș (), commonly known as Gaz Metan Mediaș or simply as Gaz Metan, was a Romanian professional football club based in Mediaș, Sibiu County. Asociația Fotbal Club Astra Giurgiu (), commonly known as Astra Giurgiu or simply Astra, was a Romanian football club last based in the city of Giurgiu, Giurgiu County.
