The 2020 Swedish speedway season was the 2020 season of motorcycle speedway in Sweden. Individual Individual Championship The 2020 Swedish Individual Speedway Championship final was held at the Skrotfrag Arena in Målilla on 23 July 2020. The title was won by Jacob Thorssell for the second successive season. U21 Championship Winner - Alexander Woentin Team Team Championship Masarna won the Elitserien. The Allsvenskan (second-tier league) was not held due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Victor Palovaara
Victor Palovaara (born 31 January 1994) is a Swedish international speedway rider. Speedway career After winning two medals at the Team Speedway Junior European Championship (a silver in 2010 and bronze in 2011) Palovaara came to prominence in 2014, when he was part of the Swedish team that the bronze medal at the 2014 Team Speedway Junior World Championship. The same year, he joined Glasgow Tigers for the 2014 Premier League speedway season and 2015 Premier League speedway season. In 2015 he finished 9th in the 2015 Speedway Under-21 World Championship and won a third medal (silver) at the European teams. He left Glasgow to join Newcastle Diamonds for the 2016 Premier League speedway season. He did not ride in Britain during 2017 but came back as part of the Edinburgh Monarchs team for the SGB Championship 2018 & SGB Championship 2019 campaigns. Lejonen () is a motorcycle speedway team from Gislaved, Sweden, Gislaved in Sweden, who compete in the Elitserien (speedway), Elitserien. Their home track is at the Gislaved Motorbana or the OnePartnerGroup Arena for sponsorship purposes, which is Sweden's oldest track still in use. The club are three times Swedish Speedway Team Championship, champions of Sweden. History 1929 to 1968 In December 1929 Gislaved Motorclub was formed and by 1931 the track was built. Allsvenskan (speedway)
Allsvenskan (literally, "The National League") is the second tier in the league system of Speedway in Sweden and currently comprises six motorcycle speedway teams. Until the introduction of the Elitserien (speedway), Elitserien in 1982 the Allsvenskan was the highest level of Swedish Speedway. Past winners 2024 Clubs History From the start of Swedish league speedway in 1948 until 1981 the Allsvenskan was the top speedway league in Sweden. But in 1982 the Elitserien was formed and the Allsvenskan became the second level of Swedish speedway. Speedway meetings in Sweden are normally held between May and September. Elitserien (literally, "The Elite Series") () is the highest league in the league system of speedway in Sweden and currently comprises the top eight Swedish speedway teams. The first season began in 1982. Before that Allsvenskan was the highest division. The winner of the Elitserien is crowned the Swedish Speedway Team Championship winner. 2024 Clubs History From the start of Swedish league speedway in 1948 until 1981 the highest speedway league in Sweden was called Division 1. In 1982 Elitserien was formed, consisting of only six teams where the top four teams qualified for the playoffs. Getingarna became the first winners after defeating Njudungarna in the finals. Masarna
Masarna are a Swedish motorcycle speedway team based in Avesta, Sweden. They last rode in the Elitserien during the 2022 Swedish Speedway season but are currently not racing due to financial problems. They are two times champions of Sweden. History 1937 to 1964 The club was founded in 1937 as the Folkare Motorklubb but their first track at Nordanö (between Jularbo and Krylbo) was built in 1948. The club joined the Swedish second division in 1958 (which was known as the Allsvenskan from 1982). Led by Sören Sjösten, they gained success in 1959 by winning division 2 and the successfully defended the title in 1960. 1965 to 1978 Folkare changed their name to Masarna for the 1965 Swedish speedway season and for the remainder of the 1960s struggled in division 2. The Swedish Speedway Team Championship is the team championship of motorcycle speedway, speedway in Sweden. History The Championship was introduced in 1950. In 1982 the Championship was renamed with a new league called the Elitserien (speedway), Elitserien being introduced. The second tier of the Championship is known as the Allsvenskan (speedway), Allsvenskan.
