Lejonen () is a motorcycle speedway team from Gislaved, Sweden, Gislaved in Sweden, who compete in the Elitserien (speedway), Elitserien. Their home track is at the Gislaved Motorbana or the OnePartnerGroup Arena for sponsorship purposes, which is Sweden's oldest track still in use. The club are three times Swedish Speedway Team Championship, champions of Sweden. History 1929 to 1968 In December 1929 Gislaved Motorclub was formed and by 1931 the track was built. The track was originally wide and long but in 1936 it was widened to and during the 1980s the inside edge of the track was moved and the length was reduced to . In 1963 Swedish speedway season, 1963, Smålands Lejon began racing in Division Three, becoming Lejonen the following season in 1964. The Swedish Speedway Team Championship is the team championship of motorcycle speedway, speedway in Sweden. History The Championship was introduced in 1950. In 1982 the Championship was renamed with a new league called the Elitserien (speedway), Elitserien being introduced. The second tier of the Championship is known as the Allsvenskan (speedway), Allsvenskan. Between 1986 and 1999 the team that finished top of the league were declared champions because there was no play-off. 2024 Swedish Speedway Season
The 2024 Swedish Speedway season is the 2024 season of motorcycle speedway in Sweden. The season includes the Swedish Individual Speedway Championship and the Swedish Speedway Team Championship. In October 2023, Vargarna announced their intention to return to the Bauhaus (company), Bauhaus retail company sponsored Elitserien (speedway), Elitserien. The Allsvenskan (speedway), Allsvenskan would retain seven teams with the addition of Masarna, who won the third tier division 1 in 2023. Individual Swedish Individual Championship The 2024 Swedish Individual Speedway Championship took place on 28 May at the Hejla Arena and was won by Fredrik Lindgren (speedway rider), Fredrik Lindgren. It was the fourth time Lindgren had been crowned Swedish champion, moving him up to fifth place on the all-time list. Gislaved Motorbana
Gislaved Motorbana or the OnePartnerGroup Arena (for sponsorship purposes) is a motorcycle speedway track in the southern outskirts of Gislaved. The track is located on the Reftelevägen 61 and surrounded by the Skogsmusen Solpark (a forest and hiking area). The stadium hosts the Lejonen speedway team that compete in the Swedish Speedway Team Championship and have been champions of Sweden on two occasions. History The track was constructed in 1931 and opened on 10 July 1932, it is the oldest speedway tack in Sweden. Four years later in 1936, the track width was increased from 6 metres to 10 metres. The record attendance of 12,247 was set on 10 August 1947. The speedway track hosted the Nordic Speedway Final in 1961. Christopher Robert Holder (born 24 September 1987 in Sydney, New South Wales) is an Australian speedway rider, who was the 2012 World Speedway Champion. He is also five times Australian champion (2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2014. Career Holder won the Australian Under-21 Championship in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008, in addition to finishing runner-up in the Under-21 World Championship in 2007 and 2008. He started racing in the United Kingdom with the Isle of Wight Islanders in 2006.
