2017–18 Elitserien (bandy)
The 2017–18 Elitserien is the eleventh season of the present highest Swedish men's bandy top division, Elitserien. The regular season begins in late-October 2017. Teams Teams 1–10 from the regular 2016–17 Elitserien league were automatically qualified for this season's play in the top-tier divisionen. Three teams from the 2016–2017 season which played the qualification games (IK Tellus, Kalix BF och TB Västerås) managed to stay in the Elitserien, while Gripen Trollhättan BK was relegated to second-tier Allsvenskan and replaced by IFK Motala. Elitserien (bandy)
The Elitserien (literally, the "Elite League") ( sv, Elitserien i bandy) is since the 2007–08 season the highest bandy league in Sweden. It consists of 14 teams. The season ends with one final game in March. The final was held at Studenternas IP in Uppsala from 1991 until 2012. In 2013 and 2014 the final was played at Friends Arena in Solna Municipality, Solna, and from 2015 to 2017 it was played at the Tele2 Arena. The final returned to 4,600-capacity Studenternas IP indoor stadium in 2018. Season structure During the regular season the fourteen teams play each other team at home and away - a total of 26 games per team. The top six teams directly qualify for the playoffs for the league championship, while the teams ranked from 7th to 10th enter an additional play-off to decide which teams take the other two championship play-off places. Vetlanda BK
Vetlanda BK is a bandy club in Vetlanda, Sweden. Vetlanda BK was established in December 1944. While the exact date seems to be unknown, 6 December is usually credited. On 1 January 1945 the club played its first game, 4–4 on away soil against Flugeby. The home arena is called Sapa Arena. The team colour is yellow. Edsbyn Arena
Edsbyn Arena is a sports venue in Edsbyn. It is the home of Edsbyns IF. Inaugurated on 22 September 2003 by King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, it was the first indoor bandy rink in Sweden. Major work was completed following the 2002–2003 season. On 31 March 2003, construction of the ceiling began. The unit was shut down the same day, and removal of the former ice began. In April the same year, the wooden beams were delivered. Edsbyn () is a locality and the seat of Ovanåker Municipality, Gävleborg County, Sweden with 3,985 inhabitants in 2010. It is located in the historical province of Hälsingland. Sävstaås IP
Sävstaås IP is a sports ground in Bollnäs, Sweden, used for bandy, soccer and track and field athletics. The bandy rink, which was the home soil for Bollnäs GIF, was inaugurated for the 1973–1974 season and artificial ice was installed in 1984. Before 1973, Bollnäs GIF had played its bandy home games at Långnäs IP. The record attendance at Sävstaås IP occurred on 26 December 2000, when 8,151 people came to watch Bollnäs GIF playing against Edsbyns IF during a Saint Stephen's Day gme in the Northern Bandy Allsvenskan group. Bollnäs () is a Swedish locality and the seat of Bollnäs Municipality, in Gävleborg County, Sweden. It had 26,937 inhabitants in 2017 History The first recording of Bollnäs in writing is from 1312 when a vicar named Ingemund referred to it as ''Baldenaes'', meaning "the large isthmus," referring to the isthmus into a nearby lake. Before becoming known as Bollnäs, its name was ''Bro By'' (lit. Bridge Village). Bollnäs has a station along the Northern Railline ('' Norra Stambanan''), which it was connected to in 1878. The town became a main base for further northern expansion of the railroad. In 1884, it became a primary maintenance and repair workshop for the railroad. Allsvenskan (bandy)
Allsvenskan (literally, "The All Swedish") ( sv, Allsvenskan i bandy) is since the 2007–08 the second highest level of bandy in Sweden and comprises 24 teams in two regional groups. This change was made when Allsvenskan and Elitserien were cancelled and a new top-tier called Elitserien was created. Structure During the first two years, Allsvenskan consisted of three groups with ten teams in each, i.e. a total of 30 teams. The groups were divided geographically, in Allsvenskan Norra (North), Allsvenskan Mellersta (Mid) and Allsvenskan Södra (South). For the third season, 2009–10, Allsvenskan was restructured into two groups, Norra and Södra, with 12 teams each, so there were only 24 teams left in total. Gripen Trollhättan BK is a bandy club in Trollhättan, Sweden, formed in 1936. The club was named Gripens BK 1936–1988. The men's team played in the Swedish first division the seasons 1973–74, 2001–02, 2002–03 and 2004–05. The 2006–07 season, the club managed to reach the first division again, where the club plays the 2007–08 season. Tillberga IK Bandy, also called ''Tillberga Bandy Västerås'' or ''TB Västerås'', is a Swedish Bandy club playing in the Allsvenskan for the first time in the 2006–07 season. Tillberga IK were founded in 1930 and play their home games at Rocklunda. Tillberga IK have struggled in the Allsvenskan this season finishing bottom of the Norra division and will have a difficult fight to avoid relegation during the Superallsvenskan.
