Broberg/Söderhamn Bandy
Broberg/Söderhamn Bandy is a Swedish bandy club from Söderhamn who play in the Elitserien. Broberg/Söderhamn, also known as Brobergs IF, was founded on 19 April 1919. Broberg play their home matches at Hällåsen. Broberg have won the Bandy World Cup 4 times in 1975, 1977, 1978 and 1983. They have also been runners-up twice in 1974 and 1981. They have also won the Swedish Championship final five times in 1947, 1963, 1964, 1976 and 1977. History Broberg/Söderhamn Bandy was founded in 1919. Söderhamn is a locality and the seat of Söderhamn Municipality, Gävleborg County, Sweden with 11,761 inhabitants in 2010. Sports The biggest local sport is bandy. Bandy is a winter sport and ball sport played by two teams wearing ice skates on a large ice surface (either indoors or outdoors) while using sticks to direct a ball into the opposing team's goal. The international governing body for bandy is the Federation of International Bandy (FIB). The playing surface, called a bandy field or bandy rink, is a sheet of ice which measures 90–110 meters by 45–65 meters – about the size of a football pitch. The field is considerably larger than the ice rinks commonly used for ice hockey, rink bandy, or figure skating.
