2013 Speedway World Cup
The 2013 FIM Speedway World Cup (SWC) was the thirteenth Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme, FIM Speedway World Cup, the annual international Motorcycle speedway, speedway world championship tournament. It took place between 13 July and 20 July 2013 and involved eight national teams. Six teams were seeded through to the tournament and two qualification rounds were held in April and May 2011 to determine the final two places. Qualification The top six nations from the 2012 Speedway World Cup (Poland, Denmark, Sweden, Great Britain, Australia and Russia) were granted automatic qualification, with the remaining two places divided among two qualifying rounds. Speedway World Cup
The Speedway World Cup is a motorcycle speedway event for national teams held in different countries. The first edition of the competition in the current format was held in 2001 and replaced the old Speedway World Team Cup, World Team Cup which ran from 1960 until 2000. The competition was held annually until 2017 when it was replaced by the Speedway of Nations pairs event. The Speedway World Cup returned in 2023 and will be held every three years. Martin Smolinski
Martin Smolinski (born 6 December 1984) is a German motorcycle speedway rider. He is three-times world longtrack champion and eight times champion of Germany. Personal life Smolinski was born on 6 December 1984 in Munich, West Germany. He is of Polish descent through his paternal grandfather from Katowice. Career Smolinksi began riding in his natiove Germany for MSC Olching. He became the German junior champion in 2003 and after reaching the final 2003 Speedway Under-21 World Championship he signed for Coventry Bees in England. Coventry retained him for the following two seasons and his form improved over the next two seasons. In 2006, he signed for his first Polish club Rybnik and in 2007 became the German Champion for the first time. Also in 2007, he won the league and cup double with Coventry during the 2007 Elite League speedway season. József Tabaka
József Tabaka (born 17 September 1989) is a Hungarian former motorcycle speedway rider. He earned 5 caps for the Hungary national speedway team. Career Tabaka started racing in the British leagues during the 2010 Premier League speedway season, when riding for the Edinburgh Monarchs. He stayed with Edinburgh in 2012 and 2013 and was part of the Edinburgh team that won the Premier League Four-Team Championship, which was held on 14 July 2013, at the East of England Arena. Billy Janniro
Billy Mitchell Janniro (born 30 July 1980 in Benicia, California, United States) is a former motorcycle speedway rider from the United States. He earned 11 caps for the United States national speedway team. Career Billy "The Kid" Janniro first rode in the British leagues for the Coventry Bees in 2001. He rode for Coventry for eight seasons but did also have one season with Peterborough Panthers. Janniro also represented the US in the 2001 Speedway World Cup Final at the Olympic Stadium in Wrocław, Poland. He is a ten-time winner of the AMA National Speedway Championship, having won the title in 2008, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 and a six times USA Champion. Gino Manzares
Giovanni Manzares (born 15 August 1993) is a speedway rider from the United States. Career Manzares has won three medals at the AMA National Speedway Championship, silver in 2021 and two bronze in 2013 and 2019. In addition to this success he has won the 2013 AMA Speedway Long Track National Championship and 2012 AMA U21 US Speedway National Championship. He also reached the final of the 2014 Speedway Under-21 World Championship. Manzares began his British racing career riding for Ipswich Witches in the 2014 Premier League speedway season finishing with a 6.02 average. Ricky Wells
Ricky Wells (born 27 July 1991 in Auckland, New Zealand), is an American international motorcycle speedway rider. He was the 2009 USA National Champion and a two time U.S. Under 21 National Champion. He has been an international rider for the USA in the Speedway World Cup. Career Wells made his first appearance in the World Under 21 Championships in 2008 by winning the 2007 U.S. Under 21 National Championship. He scored 9 points in Qualifying Round 1 held in Norden, Germany which qualified him to move onto Semi-Final Round 1 held in Rye House. Only scoring 6 points which did not qualify him to move onto The Final Round. Ryan Scott Fisher (born 7 September 1983 in Riverside, California) is an American former international motorcycle speedway rider. He earned 8 caps for the United States national speedway team. Career Fisher won the US Junior Championship three times before riding in the United Kingdom for Coventry Bees during the 2002 Elite League speedway season. After spending a second season with Coventry he joined the Oxford Cheetahs in 2004. In between in 2003, he reached the final of the 2003 Speedway Under-21 World Championship. He did not ride in Britain again until 2007 when he joined the Belle Vue Aces. Andriy Karpov (born 16 January 1987) also spelt Andriej Karpov is a motorcycle speedway rider from Ukraine. Career Karpov came to prominence when competing the Polish leagues, initially for the Ukrainian teams in Polish Speedway Second League but then in the Ekstraliga for Rzeszów in 2006. It was during 2006 that he won a silver medal at the European Individual Speedway Junior Championship. He quickly gained full international caps for the Ukraine national speedway team and represented them in the European Pairs Speedway Championship. Karpov reached the final of the 2008 Speedway Under-21 World Championship and started competing in the Individual European Championship, where he won a silver medal at the 2009 Individual Speedway European Championship. Aleksandr Loktaev
Aleksandr Dmitrievich Loktaev or Oleksandr Lokatev (, born 10 January 1994) is a motorcycle speedway rider from Ukraine. Career Loktaev first rode in Poland for Falubaz Zielona Góra in the 2010 Polish speedway season. In 2010, he qualified for the 2010 Individual Speedway Junior World Championship Semi-Final One but one week before the Semi-Final, Loktaev was injured in a Danish Speedway League match between Holstebro and Vojens. He was replaced by track reserve Simon Nielsen. In 2011, he represented Ukraine national speedway team during the 2011 Speedway World Cup Qualification and then competed in two more World Cups in 2012 and 2013.
