The 2002 Speedway Grand Prix of Denmark was the ninth round of the 2002 Speedway Grand Prix season (the world championship). It took place on 28 September 2002 at the Vojens Speedway Center in Vojens, Denmark. It was the 8th time that the Speedway Grand Prix of Denmark had been held. The Grand Prix was by the Swedish rider Tony Rickardsson (his 11th career Grand Prix win). Vojens Speedway Center
The Vojens Speedway Center is a Motorcycle speedway track located in Vojens, Denmark. The track has been part-owned since its opening by Denmark's first three time Speedway World Champion Ole Olsen. Track The Speedway Center is a long track which opened in September 1975 and has a spectator capacity of approximately 15,000. Since its opening it has hosted numerous Danish national and international meetings including hosting the Danish Championship in 1977, 1979 and 1981. World Championship meetings The Speedway Center hosted the Speedway World Final in 1988 and again in 1994, the final time the World Championship was held in the single meeting format before the advent of the Speedway Grand Prix series in 1995. He is a multiple Speedway Grand Prix winner and World Team Champion. Hans Nørgaard Andersen (born 3 November 1980, in Odense, Denmark) is a former motorcycle speedway rider, who captained the Denmark national speedway team that won the Speedway World Cup in 2006 and 2008. Career summary Andersen was a Danish Junior Champion in 1996 and reached the final of the 1999 Speedway Under-21 World Championship, where he finished fourth. Andy Smith (speedway Rider)
Andrew Smith (born 25 May 1966) is a retired motorcycle speedway rider from England. He earned 29 international caps for the England national speedway team. Career Smith spent the first seven years of his career riding for the Belle Vue Aces from 1982 to 1988. He then joined Bradford Dukes for two British League seasons and began to build a reputation as one of Britain's leading riders. Smith also rode in Australia, including the 1990/91 Australian season when he based himself at Claremont Speedway in Perth, Western Australia. Matej Ferjan
Matej Ferjan (5 January 1977 – 22 May 2011) was a Slovenian motorcycle speedway rider. He earned 8 caps for the Slovenia national speedway team and 2 caps for the Hungary national speedway team. Career Ferjan was born in Ljubljana, Slovenia. He was a five-time Slovenian Individual Speedway Championship winner (1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001) and a six-time Hungarian champion (2003, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009). Todd Wiltshire (born 26 September 1968 in Bankstown, New South Wales) is an Australian former motorcycle speedway rider, who competed at the highest level of the sport, finishing a career best third in the 1990 Individual Speedway World Championship at the Odsal Stadium in Bradford, England. Ronni Pedersen (born 6 October 1974) is a Danish former motorcycle speedway rider. He earned 6 caps for the Denmark national speedway team. Career After winning the 1992 Danish Under 21 Individual Speedway Championship, Pedersen was signed by Peterborough Panthers to ride late in the 1993 British League Division Two season. The following season he rose to third in the Peterborough averages and in his debut season in the top tier of British speedway (the 1995 Premier League speedway season) he averaged 6.53. Sebastian Ułamek (born 20 November 1975) is a former motorcycle speedway rider from Poland. He was a European individual Champion and earned 9 international caps for the Poland national speedway team. Peter Gunnar Karlsson (born 18 December 1969) is a Swedish former motorcycle speedway rider. He was twice Swedish champion and a three times World Cup winner. He earned 40 caps for the Sweden national speedway team. Career Karlsson first rode for Wolverhampton Wolves in Britain during the 1990 season. He won the Swedish Pairs Championship twice with brother Mikael Max, in 1992 and 1996 and was the Swedish Individual Champion in 1989 and 1991.
