Vojens Speedway Center
The Vojens Speedway Center is a Motorcycle speedway track located in Vojens, Denmark. The track has been part-owned since its opening by Denmark's first three time Speedway World Champion Ole Olsen. Track The Speedway Center is a long track which opened in September 1975 and has a spectator capacity of approximately 15,000. Since its opening it has hosted numerous Danish national and international meetings including hosting the Danish Championship in 1977, 1979 and 1981. World Championship meetings The Speedway Center hosted the Speedway World Final in 1988 and again in 1994, the final time the World Championship was held in the single meeting format before the advent of the Speedway Grand Prix series in 1995. It hosted the Final of the World Pairs Championship in 1979 and 1993, the World Team Cup in 1983, 1986 (round 2 of 3), 1991 and 1998, as well as the World Cup in 2003, 2008 and 2010. Alf Busk (born 16 April 1958) is a Danish former speedway rider. He earned 8 caps for the Denmark national speedway team. Speedway career Busk won the gold medal at the Individual Speedway Junior European Championship in the 1977 Individual Speedway Junior European Championship. He rode in the top tier of British Speedway from 1977 to 1985, riding for Coventry Bees, Sheffield Tigers and Swindon Robins. Craig Vincent Boyce (born 2 August 1967 in Sydney, Australia) is a former motorcycle speedway rider who primarily rode for the Poole Pirates in the British Elite League (speedway), Elite League. After retiring from riding, Boyce became manager of the Australia speedway team, Australian national team until 2012. Boyce is a three-time Australian Individual Speedway Championship, Australian Solo Champion. Jan Tony Sören Rickardsson (born on 17 August 1970) is a Swedish former professional motorcycle speedway rider. He competed in the Speedway World Championships from 1989 to 2006 and won six Speedway World Championship titles in 15 attempts. He earned 43 caps for the Sweden national speedway team. 1981 Individual Speedway World Championship
The 1981 Individual Speedway World Championship was the 36th edition of the official Motorcycle speedway World Championship to determine the world champion rider. It was also the last of a record 26 times that London's world famous Wembley Stadium hosted the World Final. It also marked the final time that the stadium would be used for any speedway. In future years when the final was held in England, it would be held at the Odsal Stadium in Bradford until the advent of the Speedway Grand Prix series in 1995. The 1981 Final was held before a reported crowd of 92,500, just shy of the Wembley record of 95,000 set at the 1938 World Final. Bruce Penhall became the first American to win the World Championship since Jack Milne in 1937. Hans Nielsen (speedway Rider)
Hans Hollen Nielsen (born 26 December 1959) is a Danish former professional motorcycle speedway rider. He competed in the Speedway World Championships from 1977 to 1999. Nielsen is notable for winning four Speedway World Championship titles. During his career, he won a total of 22 world championships, making him arguably the most successful speedway rider of all time. In 2012, Nielsen was named an Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme, FIM Legend for his motorcycling achievements. He later managed the Danish national team. Career Nielsen was born in Arentsminde near Brovst, Denmark. He was one of, if not the most successful riders the sport has ever seen.
