The 2000 Swedish speedway season was the 2000 season of motorcycle speedway in Sweden. Individual Individual Championship The 2000 Swedish Individual Speedway Championship final was held at the Målilla Motorstadion in Målilla, on 19 August. Henrik Gustafsson won the Swedish Championship for the second time. Stefan Andersson (speedway Rider)
Stefan Frederik Andersson (born 13 September 1971) is a former motorcycle speedway rider from Sweden. He earned 6 caps for the Sweden national speedway team. Career Andersson started his British leagues career after signing for Eastbourne Eagles, shortly after Jon Cook took sole charge of the club. Andersson rode in Speedway Grand Prix twice and was the 1995 Nordic Champion. After being surplus to requirements with Eastbourne in 1999 he joined King's Lynn Stars on loan for the season. Bysarna
Bysarna were a Swedish motorcycle speedway team based at the Visby#Sports, Gamla Speedway Track, in Galgberget, Visby, Galgberget, north of Visby on the island of Gotland in Sweden. They were four times Swedish Speedway Team Championship, league champions of Sweden. Season summary History 1921 to 1951 The beginning of speedway in Visby can be traced back to November 1921 when the Gotland Motor Association was formed. Eight years later in 1929 the Gotland Motorcycle Club were riding dirt track races. A meeting was held at Gutavallen on 23 October and several other meetings took place at various venues before the World War II, war. After the war a suitable piece of land was acquired in Galgberget and the track was completed in 1951. 1967 to 1977 Although a track existed in Visby there was no team until 1967, when a team called Bysarna entered Division 3 east, during the 1967 Swedish speedway season. Elitserien (literally, "The Elite Series") () is the highest league in the league system of speedway in Sweden and currently comprises the top eight Swedish speedway teams. The first season began in 1982. Before that Allsvenskan was the highest division. The winner of the Elitserien is crowned the Swedish Speedway Team Championship winner. 2024 Clubs History From the start of Swedish league speedway in 1948 until 1981 the highest speedway league in Sweden was called Division 1. In 1982 Elitserien was formed, consisting of only six teams where the top four teams qualified for the playoffs. Getingarna became the first winners after defeating Njudungarna in the finals. Masarna
Masarna are a Swedish motorcycle speedway team based in Avesta, Sweden. They last rode in the Elitserien during the 2022 Swedish Speedway season but are currently not racing due to financial problems. They are two times champions of Sweden. History 1937 to 1964 The club was founded in 1937 as the Folkare Motorklubb but their first track at Nordanö (between Jularbo and Krylbo) was built in 1948. The club joined the Swedish second division in 1958 (which was known as the Allsvenskan from 1982). Led by Sören Sjösten, they gained success in 1959 by winning division 2 and the successfully defended the title in 1960. 1965 to 1978 Folkare changed their name to Masarna for the 1965 Swedish speedway season and for the remainder of the 1960s struggled in division 2. The Swedish Speedway Team Championship is the team championship of motorcycle speedway, speedway in Sweden. History The Championship was introduced in 1950. In 1982 the Championship was renamed with a new league called the Elitserien (speedway), Elitserien being introduced. The second tier of the Championship is known as the Allsvenskan (speedway), Allsvenskan. Stefan Ekberg
Stefan Ekberg (born 21 January 1972 in Motala, Sweden) is a former international motorcycle speedway rider from Sweden. Career Ekberg is a full Swedish international, making his debut in 1994. He rode in the British leagues, starting with Oxford Cheetahs for the 1994 season. The following season he was subject to an attempt to sign him by King's Lynn Stars but joined Eastbourne Eagles, where he won the Elite League Championship in 1995. However, despite helping the Eagles to success he was released the following season. He returned to the British Premier League with the Glasgow Tigers after a ten-year absence in 2005. In 2007, the Rye House Rockets signed Ekberg mid season to replace the injured Stuart Robson and the Rockets went on to become Premier League champions that season.
