2000 Macau Grand Prix
The 2000 Macau Grand Prix (officially the 47th Macau Grand Prix) was a Formula Three (F3) car race held on the streets of Macau on 19 November 2000. In contrast to other races, such as the Masters of Formula 3, the 2000 Macau Grand Prix was not affiliated with any F3 championship and was open to entries from all F3 championships. The race was split into two 15-lap aggregate legs held in the morning and afternoon, with the overall winner being the driver who completed all 30 laps in the quickest time. The Macau Grand Prix was held for the 47th time in 2000, and the 18th time for F3 cars. André Couto of Bertram Schafer Racing won the Grand Prix after starting sixth in the first leg. Couto passed first-leg winner Pierre Kaffer of team hms at the start of the second leg and withstood pressure from Paolo Montin of Target Racing to become the first Macanese driver to win the race under F3 rules. Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART) was a sanctioning body for American open-wheel car racing that operated from 1979 to 2003. It sanctioned the PPG Indy Car World Series from 1979 until dissolving after the 2003 season. CART was founded in 1979 by United States Auto Club (USAC) Championship Division team owners who disagreed with the direction and leadership of USAC, with the then-novel idea of car owners sanctioning and promoting their own series collectively instead of relying on a neutral body to do so. Antônio Reginaldo Pizzonia Júnior (born 11 September 1980) is a Brazilian professional racing driver who has raced in Formula One and the Champ Car World Series. The 2000 British Formula Three season was the 50th British Formula Three Championship season. It commenced on 26 March at Thruxton, and ended on 8 October at Silverstone after fourteenth races. Brazilian driver Antônio Pizzonia won the title after winning five races and achieved a total of eleven podiums during the season. These results allowed Pizzonia to finish 39 points ahead of Stewart Racing's Tomas Scheckter, who beat Carlin Motorsport's driver Takuma Sato by 32 points.
