Yevhen Semenenko
Yevhen Semenenko ( uk, Євген Семененко, born 17 July 1984) is a Ukrainian triple jumper. He finished twelfth at the 2006 European Championships. He also competed at the 2009 European Indoor Championships, but without reaching the final. His personal best jump is 17.03 metres, achieved during the qualifying round at the 2006 European Championships. The 2013 European Athletics Indoor Championships were held at Scandinavium and Svenska Mässan in Gothenburg, Sweden, on 1–3 March 2013. Bidding process The decision to grant the event for Gothenburg was made by the European Athletics Council at their long meeting in Malta on October 15, 2007. Initially, Gothenburg applied for the 2011 Championships against Paris. The European Athletic Association thought the two cities presented very good concepts, and it ended up with the two candidates get one championship each; Paris in 2011 and Gothenburg in 2013. Gothenburg will use the concept ''All under one roof''. Venue The main venue for the 2013 European Athletics Indoor Championships will be Scandinavium with a maximum capacity of 12,000 spectators, but at the event the arena will have about 6,500 spectators because of the reconstruction. The Men's triple jump event at the 2011 World Championships in Athletics was held at the Daegu Stadium on September 2 and 4. Seven made the automatic qualifying mark. The eventual winner was not one of them, barely qualifying with the 9th best mark. Favorite Phillips Idowu led through the first three rounds as Will Claye failed to make a legal jump through the first two rounds, waited until his third jump to jump 17.50, to not only qualify for his final three jumps but to move into second place. In the fourth round, unheralded American collegian Christian Taylor popped 17.96, the number ten all time jump to blast into the lead. 2009 World Championships In Athletics – Men's Triple Jump
The men's triple jump at the 2009 World Championships in Athletics was held at the Olympic Stadium on 16 and 18 August. The season had seen a number of athletes performing to a high level before the championships, with reigning World and Olympic champion Nelson Évora leading with 17.66 metres and all three athletes of the Cuban team having jumped over 17.60 m in the season. The other athlete to jump that distance was Phillips Idowu, who was keen make up for his loss to Évora in the 2008 Olympics. The Olympic medallists Évora, Idowu, and Leevan Sands, and the Cuban trio of David Giralt, Yoandris Betanzos and Alexis Copello, were judged to be the strongest competitors entering the competition.
