Stop (Omar Naber Song)
Slovenia was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 with the song "Stop", written by Omar Naber and Urša Vlašič, and performed by Naber himself. The Slovene participating broadcaster, (RTVSLO), organised the national final in order to select its entry for the contest. Fourteen entries competed in the national final where the winner was selected over two rounds of public televoting. In the first round, the top three entries were selected. In the second round, "Stop" performed by Omar Naber was selected as the winner. Slovenia competed in the semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 19 May 2005. Performing during the show in position 23, "Stop" was not announced among the top 10 entries of the semi-final and therefore did not qualify to compete in the final. Radiotelevizija Slovenija () – usually abbreviated to RTV Slovenija, RTV SLO (or simply RTV within Slovenia) – is Slovenia's national public broadcasting organization. Željko Joksimović ( sr-Cyrl, Жељко Јоксимовић, ; born 20 April 1972) is a Serbian vocalist, composer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer. Slovenia has been represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 30 times since its debut in , having hosted a qualification round (Kvalifikacija za Millstreet) in Ljubljana for seven countries due to the influx of new nations wishing to join the contest. Katarina Čas () (Slovenj Gradec, 23 September 1976) is a Slovene actress. Early life Čas was born in Slovenj Gradec, Slovenia, then part of Yugoslavia. Anja Rupel
Anja Rupel (born 19 March 1966) is a Slovene pop singer, songwriter, radio announcer, and journalist. Her father, Fedja Rupel, is a flautist and a professor at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, and her uncle is the politician and diplomat Dimitrij Rupel. Rupel has been involved in music since childhood. She played the flute for over ten years. In 1982, she began to perform as lead vocalist with the prominent synthpop group Videosex, which became very popular in the former Yugoslavia. The group recorded four albums. Billysi is a pop rock music group from Slovenia. Before September 2007 they used a longer version of the name, Billy's Private Parking. The members write and produce all of their music. History The band was founded in 2001 by Sergej Pobegajlo, an established songwriter, and member of Billysi. Feri Lainšček (born 5 October 1959) is a Slovenian writer, poet, and screenwriter. Early life He was born Franc Lainšček in a Slovene Lutheran family in the village of Dolenci (part of Šalovci), in northeastern Slovenia, then part of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
