Katarina Čas () (Slovenj Gradec, 23 September 1976) is a Slovene actress. Early life Čas was born in Slovenj Gradec, Slovenia, then part of Yugoslavia. Čas is the daughter of Miran Čas (Slovenj Gradec, 22 July 1952 - Ljubljana, 23 February 2015) and wife Aleksandra Kas. She has a younger half-sister, Vita Čas, and a younger half-brother, Gabor, and is related to Andrej Čas, former Mayor of Slovenj Gradec. She attended Bežigrad Grammar School in Ljubljana and continued her studies at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Ljubljana, graduating with a degree in communication and marketing. Career Her first appearance on television was a 1988 commercial for the Slovene soft drink company carbonated Cockta, directed by Jaka Judnič. Slovenj Gradec (; '', ''after about 1900 ''Windischgraz'') is a town in northern Slovenia. It is the centre of the Urban Municipality of Slovenj Gradec. It is part of the historical Styria region, and since 2005 it has belonged to the NUTS-3 Carinthia Statistical Region. It is located in the Mislinja Valley at the eastern end of the Karawanks mountain range, about west of Maribor and northeast of Ljubljana. History ''Gradec'', Slovene for 'little castle', was first mentioned in a 1091 deed, then part of the Imperial March of Styria. The prefix ''Windisch'' (the traditional German name for Slavs in general and Slovenes in particular) was added to distinguish it from the city Graz (whose name has the same etymology). The modern Slovene name, Slovenj Gradec (literally: the Slovene Graz), derives from this German denomination.
