Q4OS
Q4OS is a light-weight Linux distribution based on Debian, targeted as a replacement for operating systems that are no longer supported on outdated hardware. The distribution is known for an addon called XPQ4, which adds themes intended to replicate the look and feel of Windows 2000, XP, 7, 8 and 10. History Development of Q4OS began in 8 April 2014 to coincide with Windows XP's end of extended support in the same year. LXQt Desktop Environment was included from April 2014 to June 2015. In 2018 TDE ( Trinity Desktop Environment) was included. In 2019, version 3.8 was released which was based on Debian Buster. The original KDE based version has been discontinued since around 2018. As of April 2020, the core developers of Q4OS, initially starting the project in Germany, are now operating in Prague, Czech Republic. Light-weight Linux Distribution
A light-weight Linux distribution is a Linux distribution that uses lower memory and processor-speed requirements than a more "feature-rich" Linux distribution. The lower demands on hardware ideally result in a Responsiveness, more responsive machine, and allow devices with fewer system resources (e.g. older or Embedded system, embedded hardware) to be used productively. The lower memory and processor-speed requirements are achieved by avoiding software bloat, i.e. by leaving out features that are perceived to have little or no practical use or advantage, or for which there is no or low demand. The perceived weight of a Linux distribution is strongly influenced by the desktop environment included with that distribution. Accordingly, many Linux distributions offer a choice of editions. Trinity Desktop Environment
The Trinity Desktop Environment (TDE) is a complete software desktop environment designed for Linux and Unix-like operating systems, intended for computer users preferring a traditional desktop model, and is free/libre software. Born as a fork of KDE 3.5 in 2010, it was originally created by Timothy Pearson, who had coordinated Kubuntu remixes featuring KDE 3.5 after Kubuntu switched to KDE Plasma 4. TDE is now a fully independent project with its own development team, available for various Linux distros, BSD and DilOS. It is currently led by Slávek Banko. TDE releases aims to provide a stable and highly customizable desktop, continuing bug fixes, additional features, and compatibility with recent hardware. LXQt
LXQt is a free and open-source software, free and open source lightweight desktop environment. It was formed from the merger of the LXDE and Razor-qt projects. Like its GTK predecessor LXDE, LXQt does not ship or develop its own window manager, instead LXQt lets the user decide which (supported) window manager they want to use. Linux distributions commonly default LXQt to Openbox, Xfwm4, or KWin. Softpedia is a software and tech news website based in Romania. It indexes, reviews and hosts downloadable software and reports news on technology and science topics. It is ranked as among of the top download portals on the internet. History Softpedia was started by two Romanian students, Bogdan Gheorghe and Cătălin Garmacea as softnews.ro. They realized that the Romanian audience was too small so they shifted the website to English and changed the domain to softpedia.com. The Romanian version was eventually discontinued because advertisers wanted a solely English website. The site got around 950,000 visits in 2005. Softpedia's revenue in 2006 was 1.6 million euros, with 95% of the revenue coming from outside Romania.
