Negrar
Negrar di Valpolicella is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Verona in the Italian region Veneto, about west of Venice and about northwest of Verona. Since 8 February 2019, the official name has been changed to "Negrar di Valpolicella" (L.R. n. 7, 8 February 2019) after a referendum was held in the town. History In prehistoric times, it was a center of the Arusnati, a not-well-known population of perhaps mixed origins. In the Middle Ages it was a free commune until it was acquired by the Scaliger of Verona (14th century). Later it was part of the Republic of Venice, under which, in 1791, it received the right to hold a livestock market. In 2020 the municipality announced that a Roman villa had been discovered beneath a local vineyard. Villa Mosconi Bertani
The Villa Mosconi Bertani (also known as Villa Novare) is a Neoclassical winery and manor in the Veneto region of Italy famous for its heritage in the production of Amarone della Valpolicella wine. It is located in the municipality of Negrar di Valpolicella, Località Novare, in the province of Verona. It is the only Veronese estate since the beginning of the 18th century specifically constructed for the purpose of wine production. It consists of a residence, large cellar and orchard (). Villa Mosconi Bertani is also known to have been an important centre of Romanticism, through Italian poet and writer Ippolito Pindemonte, and also the cradle of Amarone wine. Damiano Tommasi (; born 17 May 1974) is an Italian former footballer and current Mayor of Verona. A defensive midfielder during his footballing years, after a decade at Roma – winning the 2001 Serie A title – he continued his career abroad, going on to play for teams in three countries until his retirement from professional football at the age of 37. Matteo Manassero (born 19 April 1993) is an Italian professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. He is the youngest golfer to win a European Tour event. Amateur career Manassero was born in Negrar, in the Province of Verona. After a short period at the Villafranca Golf Club, Manassero learned the game at the Gardagolf Country Club in Soiano del Lago following the lessons of the club pro Franco Maestroni. Roman Mosaic
A Roman mosaic is a mosaic made during the Roman period, throughout the Roman Republic and later Empire. Mosaics were used in a variety of private and public buildings, on both floors and walls, though they competed with cheaper frescos for the latter. They were highly influenced by earlier and contemporary Hellenistic Greek mosaics, and often included famous figures from history and mythology, such as Alexander the Great in the Alexander Mosaic.
