''Mr. Microchip'' is a live-action children's television series that focused on the world of computer technology and the (then) relatively new home computer trend of the early 1980s. Several 8-bit home computers of the era were seen in the show, including the Apple II, Commodore International, Commodore, Atari 8-bit computers, and Tandy Computers. It was originally broadcast in Canada on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, CBC, between 1983 and 1985, and later shown in the U.K., Australia and South Africa. Production The show was produced by Canadian animation company, Nelvana, whom at the time had also produced some of its first television series: ''Inspector Gadget'', ''20 Minute Workout'' and ''The Edison Twins''. ''20 Minute Workout'' is a Canadian-produced aerobics-based television program that ran from 1983 to 1984, in which "a bevy of beautiful girls" demonstrated exercise on a rotating platform. It was created by Ron Harris in 1983, based on his cable TV series '' Aerobicise''. Series background The series was produced by Tantra Entertainment in association with the Canadian animation company Nelvana, and broadcast locally on Citytv. In the United States, it was syndicated by Orion Television. Two seasons of the program were produced, although reruns continued to appear for many years afterwards. ''The Screen Savers'' is an American TV show that aired on TechTV from 1998 to 2005. The show launched concurrently with the channel ZDTV (later known as TechTV) on May 11, 1998. The program is based on the Universal Press Syndicate syndicated comic strip '' You Can with Beakman and Jax'' created by Jok Church. The series premiered on Wednesday, September 16, 1992, on TLC, and three days later on September 19, began a concurrent run in weekly syndication on 220 television stations across the United States through an agreement with Columbia Pictures Television Distribution (whose indirect successor, Sony Pictures Television, currently maintains domestic and international distribution rights to the series).
