Laura Horvath
Laura Horváth is a Hungarian professional CrossFit athlete. She won the 2023 CrossFit Games, earning the title "the fittest woman on earth". She has also won two silver medals in 2018 and 2021, and a bronze in 2022. Horvath has a background in the sport of climbing, but later switched to CrossFit. She qualified for her first CrossFit Games in 2018, coming second at the Games and was named Rookie of the Year. After two years outside the top 10, she again came second in 2021 and then third in 2022, before winning the title in 2023. She also competes in weightlifting, has the national record for clean and jerk, and has won the national championship. CrossFit
CrossFit is a branded fitness regimen that involves constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity. The method was developed by Greg Glassman, who founded CrossFit with Lauren Jenai in 2000, with CrossFit its registered trademark. 2019 CrossFit Games
The 2019 CrossFit Games was the 13th iteration of the annual competition in the sport CrossFit held from August 1–4, 2019, at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wisconsin, United States. The men's competition was won by Mat Fraser, the women's by Tia-Clair Toomey, and CrossFit Mayhem Freedom won the Team competition, all of whom also won the 2018 games. The 2019 Games operated under a new set of qualification rules this year, allowing athletes to qualify for the Games via three different methods: the Open, the Sanctionals and invitations, replacing the Regionals of previous seasons. It was also the first year to allow a team to be composed of members who did not share a gym affiliation, thereby removing the Affiliate Cup. 2017 CrossFit Games
The 2017 CrossFit Games are the eleventh CrossFit Games and were held on August 3–6, 2017, at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wisconsin, United States. This was the first Games held outside the state of California. The men's competition was won by Mathew Fraser, the women's by Tia-Clair Toomey, and Wasatch CrossFit won the Affiliate Cup. Fraser won $310,000 for his efforts and Toomey won $298,000 for her title, including bonus for event wins. This was the first year the Masters 35–39 division was introduced. This was the first CrossFit Games in which a podium finisher in the Individual competition was disqualified for using illegal performance-enhancing substances when Ricky Garard tested positive after the Games were complete. The 2016 CrossFit Games were the tenth CrossFit Games held on July 19–24, 2016 at the StubHub Center in Carson, California and on a ranch in Aromas, California, United States. The men's competition was won by Mathew Fraser, the women's by Katrín Tanja Davíðsdóttir, and the Affiliate Cup was awarded to CrossFit Mayhem Freedom. Over 324,000 from 175 countries participated in the Open this season. At the Games, the women's competition was tightly fought, with the lead changing many times over the course of the Games, but Davíðsdóttir managed to hold off a strong challenge from Tia-Clair Toomey to win a second time. The 2015 CrossFit Games were the ninth CrossFit Games, which were held on July 21–26, 2015 at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. Ben Smith was the men's winner, and Katrin Davidsdottir was the women's winner. The Affiliate Cup was won by CrossFit Mayhem Freedom from Cookeville, Tennessee, captained by four-time individual men's champion Rich Froning Jr. who moved to team competition this year. In the 2015 season, the 17 regions of previous seasons were combined into 8 "super-regions" for the Regionals. Emma Lawson
Emma Lawson (born Jan 5, 2005) is a Canadian CrossFit athlete known for her achievements in the CrossFit Games, since her first appearance at the 2019 Games where she achieved a third-place podium finish in the Girls (14–15) division. In 2020 she placed 1st worldwide in the Girls (14–15) quarterfinals, but no Teens event was held at the games that year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. After winning first-place in the Girls (16–17) division in 2021, she has competed in adult Women category, achieving sixth-place in 2022 and a second-place podium finish in 2023. Wodapalooza Fitness Festival (WZA) is an annual four-day functional fitness festival held in Miami centered on a CrossFit competition. The event was first established in 2012 and has since developed into one of the largest fitness festival in the world and a major CrossFit competition with thousands of athletes from around the world competing. History Wodapalooza was founded in 2012 by Guido Trinidad and Steve Suarez. Mal O'Brien
Mallory O'Brien is a CrossFit athlete. In 2022, at the age of 18, she came in second at the 2022 CrossFit Games, becoming the youngest ever person to podium. Earlier in the year, she was the youngest ever person to win the Crossfit Open, and in 2021 was named CrossFit's Rookie of the Year. Early life Mallory O'Brien was born to Joe and Nicole O'Brien. She has been athletic from a young age, and was a competitive gymnast since the age of 3, reaching level 6.
