Konankuppam
Konankuppam is a small village situated in the Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu in India. It is the place where Constanzo Beschi, Rev. Fr. Joseph Beschi, also famously known as Constanzo Beschi, Veeramamunivar, wrote the Thembavani in Tamil language, Tamil. Perianayagi Madha History The Periyanayagi Madha Shrine, Konankuppam, Periya Nayagi Shrine was constructed by the great missionary Constanzo Beschi. The place where the shrine is located was once a forest place in Mugasaparur at Konankuppam. People used to come here for feeding their flocks. There were many trees and bushes here. In the 17th century, the Italian priest and a great missionary, Fr. Beschi, brought two statues of Mary (mother of Jesus), Mother Mary to be kept in the place where he worked, namely Elakuruchi / Thirukavalur (now in Kumbakonam Diocese). Periyanayagi Madha Shrine, Konankuppam
Periyanayagi Madha shrine is a Catholic Church, Roman Catholic Church (building), church, dedicated to St. Mary (mother of Jesus), Mary, mother of Jesus constructed by an Italian missionary Fr. Constantine Beschi also known under his Tamil language, Tamil name of ''Vīramāmunivar''. It is in Cuddalore district in Tamil Nadu, India. History Once Konankuppam was a forest place, where people from Mugasaparur the nearby village brought their flocks for grazing. During the 17th century an Italian missionary, Fr. Beshi, brought two statues of Mother Mary, mother of Jesus, Mary to consecrate at Elakurichi (Thirukavalur), where he worked. Passing through the forest on the way to Elakurichi he felt tired, and fell asleep under a tree. Children who were looking after their cattle nearby playfully hid one of the statues behind a bush. Constanzo Beschi
Constantine Joseph Beschi (8 November 1680 – 4 February 1747), also known under his Tamil name of ''Vīramāmunivar'', was an Italian Jesuit priest, missionary in South India, and Tamil language littérateur. Early years Born in Castiglione delle Stiviere, in the district of Mantua, in Italy, on 8 November 1680, Beschi got his secondary education in the Jesuits' High School at Mantua, which taught rhetoric, humanities and grammar. After becoming a Jesuit in 1698, he was trained in Ravenna and Bologna, studying philosophy for three years from 1701–1703 in Bologna, and theology for four years from 1706–1710. His studies also included Latin, French, Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew. He was ordained as a priest in 1709. On hearing about the work done in India by the Jesuits returning to Italy from India, Beschi was eager to come to India. Ulundurpettai or Ulundurpet (உளுந்தூர்பேட் / உளுந்தூர்பேட்டை) is a Municipality in Ulundurpet taluk of kallakurichi district of Tamil Nadu, India. It is at the intersection of NH 68 and NH 45 located 205 km from Chennai and 129 km from Tiruchirappalli. Iliad
