Kitzscher () is a town in the Leipzig district, in Saxony, Germany. Geography Kitzscher is situated in the Leipziger Tieflandsbucht, at the perimeter of the Central Saxon Hills. The town is situated 6 km northeast of Borna, and 24 km southeast of Leipzig. A nearby slagheap from open cast mining called the 'Halde Trages' is one of the highest points in the vicinity and the main sight of interest in the locality. Leipzig (official name: ''Landkreis Leipzig'') is a district ('' Kreis'') in the Free State of Saxony, Germany. It is named after the city Leipzig, which is partly surrounded by the district, but not part of it. It borders (from the west and clockwise) the state Saxony-Anhalt, the urban district Leipzig, the districts Nordsachsen and Mittelsachsen, and the state Thuringia. Geography The district is located in the Leipzig Bay and is rather flat. Individual hills are found in the north ( Hohburg Hills) and south of the district. Its larger rivers are the Mulde, Pleiße and White Elster. Borna () is a town in Saxony, Germany, capital of the Leipzig district. It is situated approximately 30 km southeast of Leipzig city. It has approx. 19,000 inhabitants. The Central Saxon Hills (german: Mittelsächsische Hügelland, also called the ''Sächsisches Burgen- und Heideland''), is a region of ''Hügelland'' with indistinct boundaries in the centre of the German state of Saxony. Geographic location To the north the region extends roughly as far as the confluence of the Freiberg and Zwickau Mulde rivers and along the Freiberg Mulde to Nossen and on in the valley of the Triebisch to just before Meissen. Its short eastern boundary runs from Meissen along the Triebisch in a southerly direction to the Tharandt Forest, continuing through it. In the south, the hill country is bounded by an artificial line from the Tharandt Forest and running north of the cities and towns of Freiberg, Chemnitz, Glauchau and Werdau. Grimma ( hsb, Grima) is a town in Saxony, Central Germany, on the left bank of the Mulde, southeast of Leipzig. Founded in 1170, it is part of the Leipzig district. Otterwisch
Otterwisch is a municipality in the Leipzig district in Saxony, Germany. Geography and transport The town is situated about 12 km southwest of Grimma and 10 km northeast of Borna. The Leipzig–Geithain railroad passes through the town and the national road B 176 transverses the south of the parish. History The first documented mention of Otterwisch was in 1269. The meaning of the place name is not known for certain but may be derived from Otter Wiese (otter meadow). Großbuch is a part of Otterwisch since 1970. Its foundation dates back to the year 1104 and Wiprecht of Groitzsch. Its central point is the church in whose massive tower three valuable bronze bells from pre-Reformation times still function.
