Idea ( sr-Cyrl, Идеа) is a retail chain in Serbia, part of Mercator-S. Through a small and super format, IDEA is intended for everyday shopping. History The first IDEA store, then owned by Croatian Agrokor, was opened in 2005 in Belgrade. After Mercator-S and Idea merged in 2014, Idea became part of the Mercator Group, and since April 2021 it has been an integral part of the Fortenova Group retail. By 2022, the company has developed a network of almost 300 IDEA and IDEA Super stores in almost 100 cities in Serbia. In addition to supermarkets, customers can order items from the IDEA range of products via the IDEA online store. In addition to selling products made by Serbian and global brands in retail stores and through the online store, IDEA has also created its own brand K plus, which has more than 2,000 products in its range. Mercator Serbia
Mercator Serbia ( sr, Меркатор Србија) or Mercator-S, is a Serbian supermarket chain, a part of Mercator Group, an international retail chain based in Slovenia. As of 2016, it has 15.98% market share in Serbia. History The company was established in 2002, when the first Mercator Center Belgrade was opened in New Belgrade. The 50,000 square meter Center was completely renovated and re-opened in 2012. In October 2006, Mercator bought 76% of Rodić M&B company for 116 million euros and became the major shareholder in Roda Supermarkets. Fortenova Group
Fortenova Group is a food producer and retailer based in Zagreb. It has been operating since 1 April 2019. The company was established through the implementation of the Settlement Plan closed between the creditors of Agrokor which had, due to illiquidity and over-indebtedness, ended up in pre-bankruptcy, managed through the Extraordinary Administration Procedure pursuant to the Act on Extraordinary Administration Procedures in Companies of Systemic Importance for the Republic of Croatia. Agrokor () was a conglomerate, largely centered in agribusiness, with headquarters in Zagreb, Croatia. Founded in 1976 as a flower grower, it became a joint stock company in 1989, with 100 percent ownership held by founder Ivica Todorić. It greatly expanded its operations in the following 25 years by acquiring a number of large companies in Croatia and Southeast Europe.
