Hyrox
HYROX is an indoor fitness competition that combines of running and eight functional workout stations, alternating between running and Functional training, functional exercises. It bills itself as "The World Series of Fitness Racing" and "A Sport for Everybody". A HYROX competition is made up of a run followed by a functional exercise station that is repeated eight times for the eight different workout stations. The events are standardized across all locations, allowing athletes to compare results globally. HYROX was launched by Christian Toetzke and Moritz Fürste. The first HYROX event was held in Hamburg, Germany in April 2018. Lauren Weeks
Lauren Weeks is an American Hyrox athlete. She is a three-time world champion in Hyrox. Career Prior to competing in Hyrox, Weeks competed in CrossFit. Her best result was at the 2017 Regionals, where she placed 14th. She was introduced to Hyrox in 2019 while still a trainee nurse. Weeks won the 2020 and 2021 Hyrox World Championships. She competed in the first season of the reality competition show Spartan Games in 2021. After placing in the top three in the first season, Weeks returned to compete in the second season in 2022. She competed in the 2022 HYROX World Championships while eight months pregnant and finished ninth. Less than a year after her pregnancy, she won the 2023 HYROX World Championships. Megan Jacoby
Megan "Meg" Jacoby is an American Hyrox athlete. She won the 2024 Hyrox World Championships. Career Jacoby was a NCAA Division I middle-distance runner at the University of Connecticut and Binghamton University where she also competed in cross-country. Jacoby first heard of Hyrox in 2022. In her second Hyrox competition, HYROX Chicago 2022, she set a new women's pro world record: 1:01:56. Jacoby became a full-time Hyrox athlete in 2023. Jacoby was the first woman to complete a HYROX pro race in under one hour. She completed the HYROX Anaheim race in 58 minutes and 58 seconds on April 22, 2023, taking the record from Mikaela Norman. Moritz Fürste
Moritz Fürste (born 28 October 1984) is a German field hockey player. He was a member of the Men's National Team that won the gold medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics and 2012 Summer Olympics as well as at the 2006 World Cup. He played at the Uhlenhorster Hockey Club in Hamburg from 1989 till 2012. He was captain of the team. He has guided his team to success in the Euro Hockey League on three occasions, winning the title in 2007–08, 2009–10 and 2011–12. Fürste also helped his team to a second-place finish in the competition in the 2008–09 Season, when they were defeated by HC Bloemendaal of The Netherlands. The CrossFit Games is an annual athletic competition owned and operated by CrossFit, LLC. Athletes compete in a series of events at the Games, which may be various standard CrossFit workouts consisting of metabolic conditioning exercises, weightlifting, and gymnastics movements, as well as a range of activities from other sports such as swimming, road cycling and strongman. Samantha "Sam" Briggs (born 14 March 1982) is an English CrossFit athlete best known for winning the CrossFit Games in 2013. She has qualified for the CrossFit Games seven additional times: in 2010, 2011, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2021. She finished four of her seven appearances in the top 5 overall. Briggs lived and trained in Miami, USA for the 2015 CrossFit season, but now resides in her native England.
