Eugeniusz Bodo
Eugeniusz Bodo (born Bohdan Eugène Junod; 28 December 1899 7 October 1943) was a film director, producer, and one of the most popular Polish actors and comedians of the interwar period. He starred in some of the most popular Polish film productions of the 1930s, including '' His Excellency, The Shop Assistant'' ( Polish: ''Jego ekscelencja subiekt''), ''Czy Lucyna to dziewczyna?'', and '' Pieśniarz Warszawy''. A skilled singer, he became an icon of Polish musical comedy and a "symbol of Polish commercial cinema". In the late 1930s he also became a successful entrepreneur – co-owner of a successful film studio, café, and producers' company. Sound Film
A sound film is a motion picture with synchronized sound, or sound technologically coupled to image, as opposed to a silent film. The first known public exhibition of projected sound films took place in Paris in 1900, but decades passed before sound motion pictures became commercially practical. Reliable synchronization was difficult to achieve with the early sound-on-disc systems, and amplification and recording quality were also inadequate. Innovations in sound-on-film led to the first commercial screening of short motion pictures using the technology, which took place in 1923. Henryk Wars (born Henryk Warszawski, after 1947 Henry Vars; 29 December 1902 – 1 September 1977) was a Polish composer. He composed scores for 50 films during the interwar period in Poland and 60 more in the United States. He composed dozens of hits for revue-theatres and films including ''Miłość ci wszystko wybaczy (Love Will Forgive You Everything)'' sung by Hanka Ordonówna, ''Umówiłem się z nią na dziewiątą (I Have a Date with Her at Nine)'' and ''Sex Appeal'' sung by Eugeniusz Bodo, ''Ach, jak przyjemnie (Ah, How Lovely!)'' and ''Już nie zapomnisz mnie (Now, You Will Remember Me)'' sung by Aleksander Żabczyński. Jadwiga Smosarska (23 September 1898 – 1 November 1971) was a Polish film actress. She appeared in more than 25 films between 1919 and 1937, as well as various stage productions. Biography Smosarska was known for playing characters representative of Polish clichés that reflected the suffering of the country's citizens. Patriotic, romantic and in good social standing, her characters often struggled with malaise and a tragic love life. In the 1920s she rose to fame in Poland as one of Sfinks Film Studio's leading stars after Pola Negri left the country for Germany. Smosarska fled Warsaw in 1939, seeking refuge in Lithuania before securing passage by boat to the United States through Scandinavia.
