Benny Tipene
Benjamin Tipene (born 1990) is a New Zealand singer-songwriter and musician. He is known for his appearance on the first New Zealand series of ''The X Factor'' where he finished in third place. Competing in the Boys category, he was mentored by Ruby Frost. His debut single "Walking on Water" was released on 29 July 2013 and debuted at number two on the Official New Zealand Music Chart and was certified platinum. Early life Tipene was born in 1990 in Auckland. In 2007 he and classmates at Freyberg High School formed a band which became indie rock group The Nerines, and went on to be a popular act on Palmerston North's live music scene. The X Factor (New Zealand Series 2)
The second and final series of the New Zealand television reality music competition ''The X Factor'' premiered on TV3 in February 2015. Pre-auditions began in October 2014. As well as again being open to singers aged 14 and over, the series was also open to bands, which had to contain no more than five members and have at least two singers. The contestants were split into the show's four traditional categories: Boys, Girls, Over 25s and Groups. The series premiered on Sunday 15 February, and screened three nights per week (SundayTuesday) until March 15, when it returned to the regular schedule of two nights per week (SundayMonday). The ARIA Charts are the main Australian music sales charts, issued weekly by the Australian Recording Industry Association. "Love Love Love" is the debut single from New Zealand folk band Avalanche City. The song was originally released as a free download in October 2010, where it was downloaded over 11,000 times until it was taken down in February 2011. The song was then used for a station promotion ad for TV2. The wider exposure lead to the song being released for sale in March, after which it debuted at number one on New Zealand's singles chart and charted for 19 weeks, eventually earning a 2× Platinum certification.
