A blackjack game between Jack and Sam Robinson determined whom the street would be named after. Only six houses on the street are featured on a regular basis; numbers 22 to 32. Number 34 was featured for the only time in 2018. The cul-de-sac is at the end of a long street and the rest of the houses are on the other side of the main road which bisects it. He stated, "I wanted to show three families living in a small street in a Melbourne suburb who are friends." Location scouts found the quiet Pin Oak Court in Vermont South. Atleast 3–4 of the homes in the cul-de-sac were constructed by the Landall-Fulton construction company during the early-to-mid 1970s on what was then known as the Sunrise Hill estate. All of the residents signed up when they were told that the show would likely last a couple of years, and they would receive payment in return for allowing filming to take place outside their houses.
