The Forest Song
''The Forest Song'' (, ALA-LC romanization: ) is a poetic play in three acts by Lesya Ukrainka. The play was written in 1911 in the city of Kutaisi, and was first staged on 22 November 1918 at the Kyiv Drama Theater. The work is one of the first prototypes of fantasy in Ukrainian literature. History of creation The draft of the poetic play was written in the summer of 1911 in Kutaisi. The final revision and editing of it lasted until October. In a letter to her sister Olha, dated 27 November 1911, Lesya Ukrainka mentioned her hard work on the drama "Forest Song": In a letter to her mother, dated 2 January 1912, Lesya Ukrainka mentioned what had inspired her to write the play: Numerous alterations and additions to the original draft of the manuscript demonstrate Lesya Ukrainka's hard and persistent work on it. The Dovzhenko Film Studios ( uk, Національна кіностудія художніх фільмів імені О. Довженка, translit. ''Natsional'na kinostudiya khudozhnikh filmiv imeni O. Dovzhenka'') is a former Soviet film production studio in Ukraine that was named after the Soviet film producer, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, in 1957. Viktor Illarionovich Ivchenko (Ukrainian: Віктор Іларіонович Івченко) was a Soviet film director and writer. He was the father of another film director, Boris Ivchenko. Ivchenko was born in the city of Bohodukhiv, Kharkov Governorate, on October 9, 1912. In 1933 he graduated from the Kharkiv Road-Construction College and in 1937 - the Kyiv Theater Institute. Ivchenko also was a play director of the Ukrainian Drama Theater of M.Zankovetska (1937–1953) and a film director of the Dovzhenko Film Studios (1953–1972). ''Forest Song'' (russian: Лесная песня, Lesnaya pesnya, uk, Лісова пісня, Lisova pisnia) is a 1963 Soviet fantasy film directed by Viktor Ivchenko. Plot There is a guy and a girl who are reading the book "The Forest Song" by Lesya Ukrainka on the river bank. Reading transfers them to Polesia where the action of the drama takes place. The mythological characters and people meet in the magic wood. The music of the nozzle which is played by a country guy Lukash awakens the forest girl Mavka from a dream. They fall in love. Mavka leaves the forest kingdom and goes to people because of Lukash. Lukash's mother treats Mavka with hostility. Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University is a Ukrainian university in Lutsk, named after Lesya Ukrainka. Mail address: Prosp. During its first year of operation, 135 students were enrolled for the first-year program. The instruction was provided by a staff of fifty professors working within the departments of Ukrainian and Russian philology, physics, mathematics and geography. The functioning of the university was interrupted by the outbreak of war in 1941, and did not resume until 1946.
