''Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection'' is a 2022 video game compilation developed by Digital Eclipse and published by Konami. It features 13 ''Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'' video games developed by Konami between 1989 and 1994. The compilation includes the Western and Japanese versions of most titles, and adds online capabilities in certain games. ''The Cowabunga Collection'' was released for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S on August 30, 2022. Digital Eclipse Entertainment Partners Co. is an American video game developer based in Emeryville, California. Founded by Andrew Ayre in 1992, the company found success developing commercial Video game emulation, emulations of arcade games for Game Boy Color. In 2003, the company merged with ImaginEngine and created Backbone Entertainment. A group of Digital Eclipse employees split off from Backbone to form Other Ocean Interactive, which, in 2015, bought and revived the Digital Eclipse brand. The newer incarnation found success developing video game compilations of retro games. Atari SA purchased the company in 2023. Arcade1Up is a computer hardware production company that specializes in the production of working 3/4 scale arcade cabinets that play arcade video games using modern components and emulation. History Arcade1Up was established as a subsidiary of Tastemakers, Inc. in 2018 by its CEO Scott Bachrach. In June 2017, Bachrach had been involved in a meeting discussing the growing interest in retrogaming. The topic of retro arcade gaming had come up, and while the members had identified efforts to recreate arcade cabinets, these typically cost thousands of U.S. dollars and were heavy, a form that would not be suitable for smaller consumers at home or offices, or use in locations like arcade bars.
