Rebel Assault
''Star Wars: Rebel Assault'' is a 1993 rail shooter video game developed and published by LucasArts for DOS, Macintosh, Sega CD and 3DO Interactive Multiplayer systems, set in the ''Star Wars'' universe. It is the first CD-ROM-only game to be published by LucasArts. The game's story focuses on a young pilot called Rookie One as they are trained by, and subsequently fights for, the Rebel Alliance in the Galactic Civil War. The game features digitized footage and music from the original movies (although most of the original footage is replaced by CGI rendered sequences), and full speech. ''Star Wars: Rebel Assault'' is one of the oldest titles to make use of extensive full-motion video (FMV) on the PC. Video was used to display pre-rendered 3D graphics of various environments and battles that were far ahead of what a contemporary PC could render in real-time. Rebel Assault II: The Hidden Empire
''Star Wars: Rebel Assault II: The Hidden Empire'' is a 1995 video game developed by LucasArts. It is the sequel to '' Star Wars: Rebel Assault'', set in the ''Star Wars'' expanded universe. It is played as a rail shooter; the player proceeds down predetermined paths, but has the ability to control aiming, shooting, and dodging. The player character, Rookie One, pilots ships such as a YT-1300 Corellian Transport, a B-wing, and a Y-wing, and encounters new enemy ships, including TIE Interceptors. They uncover, and eventually disable production of, a new TIE variant known as the TIE Phantom, which has the ability to cloak. It contains mostly original filming with actors and stunts, while the scenery and the space scenes were 3D rendered. Full-motion Video
Full-motion video (FMV) is a video game narration technique that relies upon pre-recorded video files (rather than sprites, vectors, or 3D models) to display action in the game. While many games feature FMVs as a way to present information during cutscenes, games that are primarily presented through FMVs are referred to as full-motion video games or interactive movies. Recent full motion video games often combine the use of CGI/green screens and in-game graphics for immersion. The early 1980s saw almost exclusive use of the LaserDisc for FMV games. Many arcade games used the technology but it was ultimately considered to be a fad and fell out of use. Death Star
The Death Star is a fictional space station and superweapon featured in the ''Star Wars'' space-opera franchise. Constructed by the autocratic Galactic Empire, the Death Star is capable of obliterating entire planets, and serves to enforce the Empire's reign of terror. The ''Tantive IV'' Alderaan Diplomatic Envoy (also referred to by its model as the CR90 Corellian corvette or simply as the Rebel Blockade Runner) is a fictional spaceship in the ''Star Wars'' film series. Designed by the Corellian Engineering Corporation (CEC), the highly modified CR90 corvette is designed to be utilitarian, durable, modular, similar to its predecessors like the CR70 with its simplistic interiors featuring subtle luxury for Alderaan officials. Hoth
Hoth is an ice planet in the ''Star Wars'' fictional universe. It first appeared in the 1980 film ''The Empire Strikes Back'' and has also been a setting in ''Star Wars'' books and video games. Description Hoth is the sixth planet of a remote system of the same name. It is a small, terrestrial planet with three orbiting moons and blanketed entirely by snow and ice. The freezing climate, although habitable, is mostly too cold for intelligent life to develop.
