Kosovo Basketball Superleague
The Kosovo Basketball Superleague (Albanian: Superliga e Kosovës në Basketboll) and known as the ProCredit Superliga due to sponsorship reasons is the top men's professional basketball league in Kosovo. Basketball Superleague was founded in 1991. It is run by the Basketball Federation of Kosovo. Prishtina holds the record for most Superleague titles as it has won the championship 14 times. Current teams Rules Competition format It consists of eight to ten teams which compete each year in two separate phases. Each team has to play all the other teams in its division four times, twice at home and twice away. This means that in Kosovo basketball, the league's regular season ends after all teams play 28 matches. At the end of the league, the four best teams in the standings start a play-off, pitting the first place team in the standings versus the 4th place team in the standings, and so on. The Basketball Federation of Kosovo ( Albanian: ''Federata e Basketbollit e Kosovës'', /''Košarkaški savez Kosova'') is the governing body of basketball in Kosovo. It organizes the Kosovo Basketball Superleague and the Kosovo Basketball Cup. It has also fielded a team which has represented Kosovo in international friendlies. History Kosovo Basketball Federation was founded in 1991. During the Yugoslavian era, Kosovo had own Superleague and lower divisions in both genders. In the 1990s, Kosovo declared political and sports independence from Yugoslavian system, organising its own league based with different teams from major cities of Kosovo. The Government of Kosovo (, ) exercises executive authority in the Republic of Kosovo. It is composed of government ministers, and is led by the prime minister. The prime minister is elected by the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo. Ministers are nominated by the prime minister and then confirmed by the assembly. Albin Kurti is the current prime minister of Kosovo. Gjakova
Gjakova or Đakovica, ) and Đakovica ( sr-Cyrl, Ђаковица, ) is the sixth largest city of Kosovo and seat of the Gjakova Municipality and the District of Gjakova, Gjakova District. The club is part of the multidisciplinary Vëllaznimi Gjakovë, whose football team is called KF Vëllaznimi and its handball team KH Vëllaznimi. KB Ylli, known as Golden Eagle Ylli for sponsorship reasons, is a professional basketball club based in Theranda, Kosovo. The club currently plays in the Kosovo Basketball Superleague. Its fan club is called Xhebrailat. History KB Ylli is one of the oldest basketball clubs in Kosovo. It was founded in 1975.
