Zaur Rzayev
Zadir Rza oglu Rzayev (), known as Zaur Rzayev (10 October 1937 – 29 January 2010), was an Azerbaijani military officer, Major General of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces. He had served as the commander of the first Azerbaijani military unit created on the basis of Military Unit 18110 of the former Soviet Army, deputy commander of the 2nd Army Corps, front commander and the first deputy minister of defence during the First Nagorno-Karabakh War. Life and service Early years Zadir Rza oglu Rzayev was born on 10 October 1937 in Şürük, Lankaran District of the Azerbaijani SSR, then Soviet Union. In 1955, he entered the faculty of physics and mathematics of the Azerbaijan Pedagogical University, but dropped out of the university due to his family's economic difficulties. Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University or short ASPU - state educational institution established for training pedagogical staff. History The Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University named after Nasraddin Tusi was established in 1921 under Decree No. 66 "On the Organization of the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical Institute" dated August 26, 1921, signed by the Chairman of the Council of People's Commissars of Azerbaijan Nariman Narimanov. Its first graduation was in 1924. So far ASPU has prepared more than 100 thousand teachers. In 1972 the Institute was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor. Before its foundation, an Organizing Committee (Preparatory Commission) was created for the establishment of the institute in late 1920. Beylagan (city)
Beylagan ( az, Beyləqan ) is the administrative centre of the Beylagan District of Azerbaijan. During the Soviet era, it was renamed Zhdanov (russian: Жданов) after Stalinist politician Andrei Zhdanov. This move was reverted in 1991 when the city assumed its original name again. Beylagan is one of the oldest towns in Azerbaijan. It is located in the triangle between the Kura and Aras rivers in the Mil plain. Economy 23 industrial enterprises were registered in the Beylagan region. In 2009, industrial enterprises of the region, as well as individuals, produced industrial products by 3.6 million AZN at actual prices. The volume of industrial production was 37% more than in the same period of 2006. Industrial products worth 3.7 million AZN were sent to consumers. Abulfaz Elchibey
Abulfaz Elchibey ( az, Əbülfəz Elçibəy; 24 June 1938, in Nakhchivan – 22 August 2000, in Ankara) was an Azerbaijani political figure and a former Soviet dissident. His real name was Abulfaz Gadirgulu oghlu Aliyev (Azerbaijani: ''Əbülfəz Qədirqulu oğlu Əliyev''), but he assumed the nickname of "Elçibəy" (Azerbaijani for the "''noble messenger''") upon his leadership of the Azerbaijani Popular Front in 1990. Elchibey was the president of Azerbaijan, serving from 17 June 1992 until his overthrow in a coup d'état on 24 June 1993. He positioned himself as an overt pan-Turkist, and strongly anti-Iran. Fuzuli District ( az, Füzuli rayonu) is one of the 66 districts of Azerbaijan. It is located in the south-west of the country and belongs to the Karabakh Economic Region. Baku State University
Baku State University (BSU) ( az, Bakı Dövlət Universiteti (BDU)) is a public university located in Baku, Azerbaijan. Established in 1919 by the Parliament of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, the university started with faculties of history and philology, physics and mathematics, and law and medicine, with an initial enrollment of 1094. The first rector of BSU was V.I.Razumovsky, a former professor of surgery at Kazan University. In 1930, the government ordered the university shut down in accordance with a reorganization of higher education, and the university was replaced with the Supreme Pedagogical Institute.
