Yuxi
Yuxi ( zh, c=玉溪, p=Yùxī) is a prefecture-level city in the central part of Yunnan province of the People's Republic of China. The administrative center of Yuxi is Hongta District. Yuxi is approximately south of Kunming. Geography Yuxi is located in the center of Yunnan province, about south of Kunming, the provincial capital. Like much of the central and eastern parts of the province, it is part of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau. The area is and the population is approximately 2.5 million. Near Yuxi city is Fuxian Lake, the second-deepest freshwater lake in China, where there have been discovered ancient fossils that are now in the possession of the Yuxi museum. Kunming–Yuxi–Hekou Railway
The Kunming–Yuxi–Hekou railway is a standard-gauge railway in Yunnan, Yunnan Province of China, linking the provincial capital Kunming with the town of Hekou Yao Autonomous County, Hekou on the China–Vietnam border, Vietnamese border. Constructed in several stages between 1989 and 2014, the Kunming–Yuxi–Hekou railway has largely replaced the Chinese section of the old metre-gauge Kunming–Haiphong railway for normal passenger and cargo transportation. The line is electrified, but single-tracked over most of its length. Yuxi–Mohan Railway
The Yuxi–Mohan railway or Yumo railway (), is the Chinese section of the Lao–China Railway (LCR) in Yunnan Province of southwest China. The line runs from Yuxi in central Yunnan to Mohan, a town in Mengla County on the border with Laos in the Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture of southern Yunnan. The Yumo railway is designed to "provide efficient, safe, low-carbon, affordable, railway transport" within Yunnan Province. Branching from the existing Kunming–Yuxi–Hekou railway at Yuxi and connecting directly to the Boten–Vientiane railway on the Laotian side, the Yumo railway is a part of the Kunming–Singapore railway and will eventually carry traffic across the Greater Mekong Subregion. China National Highway 213
China National Highway 213 (G213) runs from Ceke, Inner Mongolia, to Mohan, on the border with Laos, in Yunnan. It is in length and runs via Chengdu, Sichuan and Kunming, Yunnan. Before the 2013 Highway Planning, the route started in Lanzhou, Gansu. This route was a key transportation route into the disaster zone during the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake, and was referred to as a "lifeline" by rescue workers. Kunming is the capital and largest city of the province of Yunnan in China. Yangzong Lake
Yangzonghai Lake () (given on some maps as Yangzong Sea, though it is fresh water) is located between Yiliang County, Chenggong District and Chengjiang County, 45 kilometers east of Kunming City in Yunnan Province, China. About 30,000 people rely on the Lake as their drinking water. Yangzonghai Lake is noted for its underwater springs and is one of several scenic areas in Yunnan province, which is known for its biodiversity. Hongtashan () is a Chinese brand of cigarettes. It is owned and manufactured by Hongta Group, and was formerly known as Yuxi Cigarette Factory. The brand was founded as a gift contributing to the 10th anniversary of the Chinese Communists winning the Chinese Civil War and the proclamation of the People's Republic of China. History Hongtashan was launched in 1959 and gets its name from the location of its main production facility, Hongtashan Hill ('Red Pagoda Hill') in Yuxi. Yi People
The Yi or Nuosu people (Nuosu language, Nuosu: , ; see also #Names and subgroups, § Names and subgroups) are an ethnic group in South China, southern China. Numbering nine million people, they are the seventh largest of the 55 Ethnic minorities in China, ethnic minority groups recognized by the Government of China, Chinese government.
