"Yesterday Went Too Soon", is a single from UK rock band Feeder, released near the end of summer 1999. It was the third single from the album of the same name. It was their first single to reach the UK top 20. When MTV 2 came to the UK after the launch of digital television in 2000, the promo video was in heavy rotation. On the MC (cassette) format of the single, the track "Oxidize" was made available on CD for the first time in 2004 via the b-sides album '' Picture of Perfect Youth''. Feeder (band)
Feeder are a Welsh rock music, rock band formed in 1994. Scoring 20 UK top 40 singles and 13 UK top 40 albums to date in a career spanning three decades. Feeder are one of the longest-surviving bands to have originated in the UK Britpop scene. At the peak of their commercial success, they won two Kerrang! Awards in 2001 and 2003 and were inducted into their Hall of Fame in August 2019. Although the band formed in 1994,Jon Lee tribute night at T. ''Yesterday Went Too Soon'' is the second studio album by Welsh rock band Feeder. It was released on 30 August 1999 on The Echo Label. ''Yesterday Went Too Soon'' entered the UK charts at #8, after a decent amount of critical success. The title track gave them their first top 20 single, and the album would in total give the band 4 top 50 hits. Its critical and cult appeal including slots on Top of the Pops for the first time, enabled the album to aid the band's breakthrough which was completed on the follow-up '' Echo Park''. The album gained a Silver certification in April 2001, shortly before the release of breakthrough album ''Echo Park'', and then went Gold in March 2003 after the extended commercial recognition of '' Comfort In Sound'', thus making the album an overdue commercial success sales-wise. Post-Britpop
Post-Britpop is an alternative rock subgenre and is the period in the late 1990s and early 2000s, following Britpop, when the media were identifying a "new generation" or "second wave" of guitar bands influenced by acts like Oasis and Blur, but with less overt British concerns in their lyrics and making more use of American rock and indie influences, as well as experimental music. Echo Records
The Echo Label was a British record label started by Chrysalis Group in 1994, and linked with Pony Canyon in Japan. The Chrysalis Group were the original owners of Chrysalis Records, which they sold to EMI. In 2005, The Echo Label recorded a loss of over £2.0 million. The decision was taken to restructure the business at the beginning of the 2006 financial year, into an "incubator" for developing writer-artists with the intention of "upstreaming" them to a major label. The signings which resulted from this included Bat for Lashes, Steven Lindsay, Rosalie Deighton, Jacob Golden and Sarabeth Tucek. Grant Nicholas
Grantley Jonathan Nicholas (born 12 November 1967) is a Welsh musician and the lead singer and guitarist of the rock band Feeder. In 2014, Nicholas released his debut solo album '' Yorktown Heights.'' In the following year, a released a mini-album titled ''Black Clouds'' . Nicholas has won two Kerrang Awards for Best British Live Act 2001 and Best British Band 2003. Early years Nicholas was born in Newport, South Wales, but grew up in Pwllmeyric near Chepstow. He was educated at Monmouth School. He performed in public for the first time at the age of 11 at school, and gained four O-levels (the predecessor to GCSEs), including an A grade in Art. Insomnia (Feeder Song)
"Insomnia" is a song by Welsh rock band Feeder, released as the second single from their album ''Yesterday Went Too Soon''. It reached number 22 on the UK Singles Chart and was at the time Feeder's fourth consecutive single to reach the top 40. When the single charted in the UK, it was their biggest hit at the time and got them on the popular now defunct UK music show "Top Of The Pops". From there the band's awareness increased and the follow-up single "Yesterday Went Too Soon" cracked the top 20 and helped the album of the same name go top 10. It also seen their only performance on TFI Friday, also a now defunct TV show. "Insomnia" is inspired by singer Grant Nicholas's experience of Feeder's first US tour in 1998 when he broke his ankle (among other injuries) and found it hard to sleep at nights. Paperfaces
"Paperfaces" is the fourth and final single from UK rock band Feeder's 1999 album ''Yesterday Went Too Soon''. The version released on the single is a re-recording from that of the album version. Upon release, the single was given little promotion by UK radio judging by the C-list placing on BBC Radio 1, as the previous two singles were played a lot more before release, and due to this the single only charted in the UK at #41. Frontman Grant Nicholas said the band were invited to perform the track on ''TFI Friday'', but decided to U-turn on the band and instead gave the slot to the Stereophonics, meaning they appeared twice on the show and Feeder missed out on widespread promotion for this single.
