Yakovlivka, Donetsk Raion
Yakovlivka (; ) is a village in Yasynuvata urban hromada, Donetsk Raion (district; formerly Yasynuvata Raion) in Donetsk Oblast of eastern Ukraine, at 9.9 km NNE from the centre of Donetsk city, on the right bank of the Kalmius river. The settlement was taken under control of Russian forces during the War in Donbass, that started in mid-April 2014. Demographics In 2001 the settlement had 971 inhabitants. Donetsk Oblast
Donetsk Oblast, also referred to as Donechchyna (, ), is an Oblasts of Ukraine, oblast in eastern Ukraine. It is Ukraine's most populous province, with around 4.1 million residents. Its capital city, administrative centre is Donetsk, though due to the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian War, the regional administration was moved to Kramatorsk. War In Donbas (2014–2022)
The war in Donbas, or the Donbas war, was a phase of the Russo-Ukrainian War in the eastern Donbas region of Ukraine. The war began in April 2014, when Russian paramilitaries seized several towns. Ukraine's military launched an operation against them, but failed to fully retake the territory. Covertly, Russia's military were directly involved, and the separatists were largely under Russian control. The war continued until subsumed by the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Kalmius
The Kalmius (, ) is a river flowing through Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine. Its source is near the Ukrainian city of Yasynuvata, and its mouth is in Mariupol. The Kalmius is one of two rivers flowing through Mariupol. The other is the Kalchyk, which flows into the Kalmius. The Kalmius flows into the Sea of Azov near the Azovstal Iron and Steel Works in Mariupol. Major cities along the Kalmius are Yasynuvata, Donetsk, Kalmiuske, and Mariupol. Donetsk ( , ; ; ), formerly known as Aleksandrovka, Yuzivka (or Hughesovka), Stalin, and Stalino, is an industrial city in eastern Ukraine located on the Kalmius River in Donetsk Oblast, which is currently occupied by Russia as the capital of the Donetsk People's Republic. Yasynuvata Raion
Yasynuvata Raion () was one of the administrative raions (a ''district'') of Donetsk Oblast, located in southeastern Ukraine. The administrative center of the district was the city of Yasynuvata, which was incorporated separately as a city of oblast significance and did not belong to the districts jurisdiction. Beginning in 2014, with the onset of the War in Donbas, the raion was split: The western part was under control of the central Ukrainian government, whereas its eastern part was under control of the Donetsk People's Republic. The raion was abolished by the Ukrainian government on 18 July 2020 as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, which reduced the number of raions of Donetsk Oblast to eight, of which only five were controlled by the government.
