Old Persian
Old Persian is one of two directly attested Old Iranian languages (the other being Avestan) and is the ancestor of Middle Persian (the language of the Sasanian Empire). Like other Old Iranian languages, it was known to its native speakers as (Iranian).''cf.'' , p. 2. Xerxes II Of Persia
Xerxes II (; ; ; died 424 BC) was a Persian king who was very briefly a ruler of the Achaemenid Empire, as the son and successor of Artaxerxes I. After a reign of forty-five days—where he only had control over the Persian heartlands—he was assassinated in 424 BC by his half-brother Sogdianus, who in turn was murdered by Darius II six months later. He is an obscure historical figure known primarily from the writings of Ctesias. He was the only legitimate son of Artaxerxes I and Damaspia, and is known to have served as crown prince. Xerxes (; ) was king of Sophene and Commagene from 228 BC to 212 BC. He was the son and successor of Arsames I. Name ''Xérxēs'' () is the Greek and Latin (''Xerxes'', ''Xerses'') transliteration of the Old Iranian ''Xšaya-ṛšā'' ("ruling over heroes"), a popular name amongst the rulers of the Persian Achaemenid Empire. Xerxes (Sasanian Prince)
Xerxes was a 6th-century Sassanid Persian prince who distinguished himself in war against the Byzantine Empire. He was the son of the Sasanian king Kavad I, and is first mentioned as a Sasanian general during the Iberian War between the Byzantine and Sassanid Empires. In 528, Xerxes leading an army numbering 30,000 men defeated the Byzantines at the Battle of Thannuris by stratagem, killing or capturing many of them along with their commanders. However, the victory was costly, and the army of Xerxes had lost ca. 500 of his Immortal units. Xerxes Desai (1937 – 27 June 2016) was the first managing director of Titan Company, an Indian watchmaking company, and played an instrumental role in laying the foundation of the company. Biography Desai was a graduate of Elphinstone College ( Mumbai University) and Oxford University. Desai joined Tata Administrative Services in 1961 after graduation, working at several of their companies. He founded Titan as a joint venture with J. R. D. Tata in 1986, with support from the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation. He had suggested the idea of a watchmaking company to Tata in the 1970s, who liked it, but bureaucratic hassles took time till the company was opened in 1986 in Hosur. In 1994, Desai challenged engineers at Titan to design the world's thinnest watch, with a movement 1.15mm thick inside a 3.5mm case. The watch, called the Titan Edge was introduced in 2002.
