Nation Radio Wales is a regional radio station, broadcasting to south and west Wales on FM and across North East Wales, Wales on DAB. It is owned and operated by Nation Broadcasting and broadcasts from studios near the St Hilary transmitting station, St Hilary transmitter on the outskirts of Cowbridge. The station's music playlist originally consisted of new and classic guitar-led music, reflecting the franchise won originally by XFM, but in 2015, the format was changed to a broader format including mainstream pop music. As of September 2024, the station broadcasts to a weekly audience of 163,000, according to RAJAR. History Nation Radio began broadcasting on 16 June 2008, taking over the regional Ofcom broadcasting licence, which was held by XFM South Wales until GCap Media sold the station to Town and Country (now Nation Broadcasting) on 30 May 2008. Nation Radio UK
Nation Radio UK is a quasi-national radio station in the UK, broadcasting online and on DAB. It is owned and operated by Nation Broadcasting. The digital station was launched in June 2016 as Thames Radio with a line-up of former BBC and Capital presenters such as breakfast host Neil Fox, Dean Martin, Tony Blackburn, Alex Lester, Pat Sharp and Neil Francis, with all presenters broadcasting from 'virtual studios' (as Thames Radio had no physical studio premises of its own). In June 2017, Thames Radio dropped all of its presenters and became a non-stop music station, until changing its name to Nation Radio in June 2018. This was because the company behind Thames Radio had acquired a radio licence from Rock Radio Scotland (which was being unused) and wanted to launch a more 'national' service which would also include a station in Wales in time. ''Radio Ceredigion'' () was an Independent Local Radio station that was broadcast to Ceredigion. It was broadcast across the county on 96.6, 97.4 and 103.3 FM. On 31 May 2019 the station became a relay of Nation Radio Wales.
