World Pool League
The World Pool League (WPL) was a nine ball pool tournament promoted by Matchroom Sport and PartyGaming, and sanctioned by the World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA). All of the events were held in Warsaw, Poland, annually from 1999 to 2006. Six notable players were selected to participate in each event, which lasted for three days. Despite its name, the events were invitational tournaments, not a league in the usual sporting senses. The victor in the final event was Dennis Orcollo of the Philippines, 8–5 over Niels Feijen of the Netherlands, for a US$20,000 first-place prize. Format Round robin stage The players were arranged such that each on the others once, in round-robin fashion. Unlike most matches in the sport where a player has to score a required number of racks to win, players in this round play in an assigned number of racks (for example: 10 racks or 12 racks). Nine Ball
Nine-ball (sometimes written 9-ball) is a discipline of the cue sport pool. The game's origins are traceable to the 1920s in the United States. It is played on a rectangular billiard table with at each of the four corners and in the middle of each long side. Using a cue stick, players must strike the white cue ball to nine colored billiard balls, hitting them in ascending numerical order. An individual game (or ) is won by the player pocketing the . Matches are usually played as a to a set number of racks, with the player who reaches the set number winning the match. Round-robin Tournament

Thorsten Hohmann
Thorsten Hohmann (born 14 July 1979 in Fulda, West Germany) is a German professional pool player, nicknamed "the Hitman." He is a three-time world champion, winning the WPA World Nine-ball Championship in 2003, and 2013, and winning the WPA World Straight Pool Championship in 2006. Career Early life Thorsten was born and raised in Fulda, Germany and at a very young age had always been interested in sports, playing football, table tennis and badminton. At the age of nine Thorsten's father took him to a local pool hall. On his 10th birthday Thorsten received a miniature pool table. Rodney Morris
Rodney Morris (born 25 November 1970 in Anaheim, California, USA) is a professional pool player of Chamorro - Hawaiian descent. Nicknamed "Rocket" he currently resides in Acworth, Georgia. Rodney married his wife Rheyannon in July 2020. Career In 1996, Morris won his first major tournament by defeating Efren Reyes in the finals of the US Open Nine-ball Championship. In 2001, after 5 years of not playing in a tournament Morris came back to win the Sands Regency 9-Ball Open. In 2003, he was on top form and dominated the World Pool League tournament, besting Thorsten Hohmann the reigning World Champion. He has represented Team USA in the Mosconi Cup on eight occasions. Earl Strickland
Earl Strickland (born June 8, 1961) is an American professional pool player who is considered one of the best nine-ball players of all time. He has won over 100 championship titles and three world titles. In 2006 he was inducted into the Billiard Congress of America's Hall of Fame. He is also known as one of the sport's most controversial players for his outspoken views and his sometimes volatile behavior at tournaments. Career Strickland started playing pool at the age of 8. After intensive practice, he entered his first professional tournament aged 16. Strickland rose to national prominence in 1983 with a victory in Caesars Tahoe Pro Billiard Classic defeating Steve Mizerak in the finals and winning $25,000. Steve Knight (pool Player)
Steve Knight (12 July 1973 – 13 January 2019) was an English professional pool player. Knight spent four times representing the European team at the Mosconi Cup and was the winner of the 2000 World Pool League. Career Knight's first major competition was at the 1997 World Pool Masters, reaching the second round of the competition. The following year he reached the quarter-finals of the event. Knight's best result at a world championship was at the 1999 World Professional Pool Championship, reaching the quarter-finals, before losing to Chao Fong-Pang. Efren Manalang Reyes (born August 26, 1954), popularly known by the nickname "Bata" (English: "Kid"), is a Filipino professional pool player. Reyes is widely considered one of the greatest pool players of all time. Fabio Petroni (born 30 March 1972 in Rome, Italy) is an Italian professional pool player. Career Fabio Petroni was born in 1972 in Rome, Italy and began playing billiards when he was 13 years old. In 1993, he became the first Italian champion. He took second place in the World Pool League and became runner-up at the European Pool Championships 1998 in the 9-Ball. James Rempe (born November 4, 1947, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, US) is an American professional pocket billiards (pool) player, and was inducted into the Billiard Congress of America's Hall of Fame in 2002.
