Tasmanian Greens
The Tasmanian Greens are a political party in Australia which developed from numerous environmental campaigns in Tasmania, including the flooding of Lake Pedder and the Franklin Dam campaign. They form a part of the Australian Greens. Following the 2024 Tasmanian State Election, the party holds five seats in the Tasmanian House of Assembly, and is currently led by Rosalie Woodruff. At a federal level, two Tasmanian senators – Nick McKim and Peter Whish-Wilson – are members of the Greens. The party's current shadow ministry can be found at Woodruff Shadow Ministry. Cassandra Stanwell O'Connor (born 1 April 1967) is an Australian politician, who was a Tasmanian Greens member of the Tasmanian House of Assembly from 2008 to 2023, representing the electorate of Denison which was renamed to Clark in September 2018. Helen Christina Burnet (born 12 December 1964) is an Australian politician representing the division of Clark in the House of Assembly since the 2024 Tasmanian state election. Prior to this she was Deputy Lord Mayor of Hobart and a member of the Hobart City Council. Vica Bayley (born 16 June 1971) is an Australian politician. He is a Greens member of the Tasmanian House of Assembly, representing the electorate of Clark. since 2023 when he was elected in a countback of votes to replace Cassy O'Connor. Since 2024, Bayley has served as Deputy Greens Leader. Early life and career Bayley grew up on a sheep farming property in Sorell, Tasmania. He trained as a property valuer and schoolteacher, but later became involved in environmental activism and worked for The Wilderness Society.
