''Wide Open Light'' is the seventeenth studio album by American singer-songwriter Ben Harper, released on June 2, 2023, through Chrysalis Records. It was preceded by the lead single "Yard Sale" featuring Jack Johnson (musician), Jack Johnson. Harper will tour Europe and North America from July 2023. Background In an interview with ''Harper's Bazaar'', the album is described as a "stripped-down, minimally-produced meditation on love, loss, and longing featuring 11 previously unreleased songs." Benjamin Charles Harper (born October 28, 1969) is an American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Harper plays an eclectic mix of blues, folk, soul, reggae, and rock music, and he is known for his guitar-playing skills, vocals, live performances, and activism. He has released twelve studio albums, mostly through Virgin Records, and has toured internationally. Michael Halsband is an American photographer. He makes portraits of celebrities, from musicians to artists, and produces work for fashion and lifestyle publications. He has also directed short films, music videos and commercials. Early life and education Michael Halsband was born in 1956 in New York City. He grew up in Manhattan and at age 10 became interested in photography as a hobby. He took photography classes in high school. In college, he studied psychology but found himself unhappy with his path. When his mother suggested art school, Halsband showed his portfolio of drawings to the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York City, but they did not feel his drawing was up to par. When asked if he had anything else to show, Halsband brought them photographs he had made from age 10 to 19 and was accepted into the photography program in 1976. Danny Kalb
Daniel Ira Kalb (September 9, 1942 – November 19, 2022) was an American blues guitarist and vocalist. He was an original member of the 1960s group the Blues Project. Life and career Kalb was a protégé of Dave Van Ronk and became a solo performer and a session musician, performing with such folk singers as Judy Collins, Phil Ochs, Pete Seeger and Bob Dylan. Kalb and the blues ethnomusicologist Sam Charters formed the New Strangers. He joined Van Ronk's Ragtime Jug Stompers in 1963.
