What Fools Men
''What Fools Men'' is a 1925 American silent drama film directed by George Archainbaud and starring Lewis Stone, Shirley Mason, and Ethel Grey Terry. Plot As described in a film magazine review, Joseph Greer has invented a new linen-making process and asks Williamson and his associates to finance him. Williamson and the others intend to swindle Greer, who gets his secretary, Jenny McFarlan to watch them. His wife, from whom he has been separated for years, wishes a divorce. Greer sends for his eighteen year old daughter whom he has never seen, and gives her an automobile and has her introduced into society. Mrs. Williamson attempts to make love to Greer, who repulses her. She tells Williamson that Greer has forced his attentions on her. This strengthens Williamson’s resolve to break him. George Archainbaud
George Archainbaud (May 7, 1890 – February 20, 1959) was a French- American film and television director. Biography In the beginning of his career he worked on stage as an actor and manager. He came to the United States in January 1914, and started his film career as an assistant director to Emile Chautard at the World Film Company in Fort Lee, New Jersey. In 1917 he made his own directorial debut ''As Man Made Her''. During the next three and a half decades he directed over one hundred films. After the beginning of the 1950s he moved to television. While working at RKO Radio Pictures in the beginning of the 1930s, he showed some artistic and skillful eye with many of his films. Joyce Compton
Olivia Joyce Compton (January 27, 1907 – October 13, 1997) was an American actress. Biography Compton was born in Lexington, Kentucky, the daughter of Henry and Golden Compton. (Despite frequent reports to the contrary, her name was not originally "Eleanor Hunt"; she had appeared in the film ''Good Sport'' (1931) with Hunt and this confusion in an early press article followed Compton throughout her career.) After graduating high school she spent two years at the University of Tulsa, studying dramatics, art, music and dancing. She won a personality and beauty contest and spent two months in a film studio as an extra. Compton first made a name for herself when she was named one of the WAMPAS Baby Stars in 1926 with Mary Brian, Dolores Costello, Joan Crawford, Dolores del Río, Janet Gaynor and Fay Wray.
