Weybridge F.C., often referred to as Weybridge Swallows, was an English association football club, based at Portmore Park in Weybridge, Surrey. History The club was founded in 1876 and used the Queen's Head public house for its facilities. The ground was known for its poor condition and spartan facilities. The first known game for the club was at South Norwood F.C., South Norwood in November 1878. The club's only entry to the FA Cup was in 1880-81 FA Cup, 1880–81. The Swallows beat Henley Town F.C., Henley at home in the first round and lost 3–0 at home to Upton Park F.C., Upton Park in the second, conceding an own goal and a last-minute third. Esher Leopold After the 1880–81 season, the club disbanded, its captain and players mostly forming the new Esher Leopold football club, which played at Sandown Park, close to the Sandown Park Racecourse, racecourse. Reigate Priory F
Reigate ( ) is a town in Surrey, England, around south of central London. The settlement is recorded in Domesday Book of 1086 as ''Cherchefelle'', and first appears with its modern name in the 1190s. The earliest archaeological evidence for human activity is from the Paleolithic and Neolithic, and during the Roman period, tile-making took place to the north east of the modern centre. A motte-and-bailey castle was erected in Reigate in the late 11th or early 12th century. It was originally constructed of timber, but the curtain walls were rebuilt in stone about a century later. An Augustinian priory was founded to the south of the modern town centre in the first half of the 13th century. The priory was closed during the Reformation and was rebuilt as a private residence for William Howard, 1st Baron Howard of Effingham. Sandown Park is a horse racing course and leisure venue in Esher, Surrey, England, located in the outer suburbs of London. It hosts 5 Grade One National Hunt racing, National Hunt races and one Group One, Group 1 flat race, the Eclipse Stakes. It regularly has horse racing during afternoons, evenings and on weekends, and also hosts many non-racing events such as trade shows, wedding fairs, toy fairs, car shows and auctions, property shows, concerts, and even some private events. Weybridge
Weybridge () is a town in the Borough of Elmbridge, Elmbridge district in Surrey, England, around southwest of central London. The settlement is recorded as ''Waigebrugge'' and ''Weibrugge'' in the 7th century and the name derives from a crossing point of the River Wey, which flows into the River Thames to the north of the town centre. The earliest evidence of human activity is from the Bronze Age. During the Anglo-Saxon and Middle Ages, medieval periods, Weybridge was held by Chertsey Abbey. In 2011 it had a population of 15,449. In the 1530s, Henry VIII constructed Oatlands Palace to the north of the town centre, which he intended to be the residence of his fourth wife, Anne of Cleves. He married Catherine Howard there in July 1540 and the palace remained a royal residence until the English Civil War, Civil War.
