Westend (Trevilians, Virginia)
Westend is a temple-fronted house near Trevilians, Virginia, United States. Built in 1849 in the United States, 1849, the house's design refers to the Classical Revival style, representing an extension of the Thomas Jefferson, Jeffersonian ideal of classical architecture. The house was built for Mrs. Susan Dabney Morris Watson on a property that she had inherited from her late husband. The building project was supervised by Colonel James Magruder. The house was the centerpiece of a substantial plantation, and a number of dependencies, including slave dwellings, survive. Westend remains in the ownership of the descendants of Mrs. Watson. The two-story house is built of brick, and features a tetrastyle Tuscan order, Tuscan portico on its principal facade. The main three-bay section is flanked by three-bay, one-story wings and surmounted by a hipped roof with prominent interior chimneys. The fronts of these wings were originally orangeries. Westend () is a locality of the Berlin borough Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf in Germany. It emerged in the course of Berlin's 2001 administrative reform on the grounds of the former Charlottenburg borough. Originally a mansion colony, it is today a quite densely settled, still affluent territory adjacent to Berlin's inner city in the east. Geography Westend is situated west of Berlin's inner city on Spandauer Berg, the northern peak of the sandy Teltow plateau between the river valleys of Spree and Havel. It is centered on Theodor-Heuss-Platz, a large square, from where the Heerstraße arterial road, part of the Bundesstraße 2 and Bundesstraße 5 highways, runs west towards the Berlin city limits. Westend is a district of the city of Espoo, Finland. It is located next to Tapiola and about ten kilometers from the center of Helsinki. From Westend Helsinki can be reached along Länsiväylä ( National road 51). Known as an affluent area, Westend is the wealthiest postal code area of Finland by mean household income. In 2019, the area was home to more than 3,000 residents. Westend is a part of the " Greater Tapiola" district, which also comprises Haukilahti, Laajalahti, Mankkaa, Niittykumpu, Otaniemi, Pohjois-Tapiola and Tapiola. Pogodno is a municipal neighbourhood of the city of Szczecin, Poland, within the Zachód, Szczecin, West district. It is mostly a low-rise housing estate with detached houses. The neighbourhood has an area of 4.2 km2, and in 2015, was inhabited by 24,359 people, making it the second most populous neighbourhood of the city. The area begun being developed in 1890 as a suburb, and was incorporated into Szczecin in 1910. Rusałka, until 1945 known as Westendsee (''West End Lake''), is a dam lake in Szczecin, Poland located in northern part of Jan Kasprowicz Park. It's only inflow and discharge is Osówka stream. Its area is 0.03 km2, it is 0.67 km long and 0.07 km wide. History Rusałka was formed druign the Middle Ages when the Osówka stream present in the area was dammed during the construction of nearby gristmills, one called Malzmühle the east and one, known as Lübsche Mühle, on the west side of the modern lake. The modern shape of the lake was formed in 1885 after the waters of Osówka were dammed again. The inhabitants of Stettin (now Szczecin, Poland) could sail on the lake with rented boats and visit Haus am Westendsee coffeehouse, that operated at the prior site of the Malzmühle gristmill.
