Austria was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 1983 with the song "Hurricane", composed by Peter Vieweger, with lyrics by Heli Deinboek and Heinz Nessizius, and performed by Westend. The Austrian participating broadcaster (ORF), selected its entry through a national final. Before Eurovision (ORF) held the national final ("From twelve to one") at its television studios in Vienna, hosted by . It took place on 17 March 1983 at 20:15 CET (19:15 UTC) and was broadcast on FS2. The winning song was chosen by 328 people aged between 16 and 60. Waterloo represented alongside Robinson. The Eurovision Song Contest 1983 was the 28th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It was held in Munich, West Germany, following the country's victory at the with the song "" by Nicole. Although this was Germany's first victory, 1983 was the second time Germany had hosted the contest, having previously done so in . Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster (BR) on behalf of the ARD, the contest was held at the Rudi-Sedlmayer-Halle on 23 April 1983 and was hosted by German dancer Marlene Charell. ORF 2 (''ORF zwei'', ''Österreichischer Rundfunk 2'') is an Austrian public television channel owned by ORF. It was launched on 11 September 1961 as a technical test programme. Waterloo & Robinson
Waterloo and Robinson is an Austrian band, consisting of Johann Kreuzmayr ("Waterloo") and Josef Krassnitzer ("Robinson"). The duo are most famous for representing Austria in the Eurovision Song Contest, Austria in the Eurovision Song Contest 1976, performing the song My Little World (song), My Little World, where they recorded a 5th-place finish with 80 points. This song was also the first time that Austria had performed entirely in English Language, English at the Contest. The duo entered the preselection to represent Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest 2004, 2004 contest, losing out to boyband Tie Break (Austrian band), Tie Break.
