We Are I.E.
"We Are I.E." is a song by British breakbeat hardcore producer Lennie De Ice. It was first recorded in 1989, but not released until 1991 when it appeared on a four-track EP from Reel 2 Reel Productions, one of a number of labels (and associated artists) that originated from the De Underground record shop based in Forest Gate, East London. It is often credited as one of, if not the first, tracks to lay down the foundations for jungle music. The track contains several samples, the most prominent being the Amen break and the vocal "We are i.e." from the Algerian song "N'Sel Fik" by Chaba Fadela and Cheb Sahraoui, as well as the "let me hear you scream" vocal from "The Bugger Groove" by the Buggers, a backspin sound from Simon Harris's "Beats, Breaks & Scratches", the riff from 808 State's "Fire Cracker", and finally a Western-style gunshot sound. Lennie De Ice
Lenworth Green (May 14, 1970 – December 10, 2024), better known as Lennie De Ice, was a British musician credited with pioneering jungle music with his 1991 track, " We Are I.E.". His other aliases include Body Snatcher and Lick Down Crew. De Ice was a member of music groups CIS Production, Dub Hustlers, and Madd-Ice. Early life and education Born in East London in 1970, Green attended school in Walthamstow and was inspired by hip-hop and electro groups Mantronix, Jonzun Crew and rapper Afrika Bambaataa. 808 State are an English electronic music group formed in 1987 in Manchester by Graham Massey, Martin Price and Gerald Simpson. Hard House
UK hard house or simply hard house is a style of electronic dance music that emerged in the early 1990s and is synonymous with its association to the Trade club and the associated DJs there that created the style. It often features a speedy tempo (around 150 BPM but hard house ranges from around 135 BPM to around 165 BPM), offbeat bass stabs, hoovers and horns. It usually contains a break in the middle of the track where no drums are present. UK hard house often uses a long and sharp string note to create suspense. Speed garage (occasionally known as plus-8) is a genre of electronic dance music, associated with the UK garage scene, of which it is regarded as one of its subgenres.
