Warpaint (band)
Warpaint is an American indie rock band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 2004. The band consists of Emily Kokal (vocals, guitar), Theresa Wayman (vocals, guitar), Jenny Lee Lindberg (bass, vocals), and Stella Mozgawa (drums). To date, the band has released four studio albums: ''The Fool (Warpaint album), The Fool'' (2010), ''Warpaint (Warpaint album), Warpaint'' (2014), ''Heads Up (Warpaint album), Heads Up'' (2016), and ''Radiate Like This'' (2022). History Beginning and formation (2004–2007) Warpaint formed in Los Angeles on Valentine's Day 2004. The original lineup consisted of childhood friends Wayman and Kokal alongside sisters Lindberg and Shannyn Sossamon. Jenny Lee Lindberg
Jennifer Lee Lindberg (born July 30, 1981) is an American musician, singer-songwriter, record producer and painter, best known as the bassist of the indie rock band Warpaint. In 2015, Lindberg released her first solo album, '' Right On!'', under the name "Jennylee". Career Warpaint Lindberg had a "chance encounter" with Emily Kokal during one of Sossamon's DJ sets, soon after relocating to Los Angeles, and formed Warpaint with her, Theresa Wayman and Sossamon on Valentine's Day 2004. After rehearsing and composing original material alone for 18 months, Warpaint began performing regularly in Los Angeles and self-released their debut extended play, '' Exquisite Corpse'', in August 2008. John Frusciante
John Anthony Frusciante ( ; born March 5, 1970) is an American musician and the guitarist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, having been with the band across three iterations. He has released 11 solo albums and 7 EPs, ranging in style from acoustic guitar to electronic music. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers in 2012. ''Rolling Stone'' named Frusciante among the greatest guitarists of all time. Exquisite Corpse (EP)
''Exquisite Corpse'' is the debut EP by American alternative rock band Warpaint, self-released in August 2008 and subsequently re-released on October 6, 2009 on Manimal Vinyl. Background and release Recorded in 2007, the EP was mixed by current-Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante, and features Red Hot Chili Peppers ex-guitarist Josh Klinghoffer performing drums on "Billie Holiday" and guitar on "Krimson". Promotional music videos were produced for the tracks "Stars", "Elephants" and "Beetles". Several of the songs on ''Exquisite Corpse'' predated the EP, with some written up to five years earlier. Warpaint was initially formed in February 2004. Reception BBC Music positively reviewed the EP, especially "Billie Holiday", comparing Warpaint favorably to the British band The xx. ''Radiate Like This'' is the fourth studio album by American indie rock band Warpaint, released on May 6, 2022, through Heirlooms and Virgin Records. It marks their first album in six years, and was announced alongside the release of the song "Champion". The band toured Europe in support of the album. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United Kingdom, United States and New Zealand in the early to mid-1980s. Although the term was originally used to describe rock music released through independent record labels, by the 1990s it became more widely associated with the music such bands produced.
