Wainwright Bisons
The Wainwright Bisons are a junior "B" ice hockey team based in Wainwright, Alberta, Canada. They are members of the North Eastern Alberta Junior B Hockey League (NEAJBHL). They play their home games at Peace Memorial Multiplex. History Since the 1990–91 season the Wainwright Bison have three league championships winning in the 2001, 2016 and 2017 playoffs. The victory advanced the Bison to the Russ Barnes Trophy championships which is the Alberta Provincial Jr. B Championships featuring eight teams. The Heritage and Capital Hockey leagues qualify their playoff champion and playoff finalist, while the Calgary Jr. B, North West, and the North East Hockey leagues send just their playoff champions. The final team is the team selected to host the tournament event. In 2013, Wainwright was the Russ Barnes host and as such participated in their second Provincial Championship. Wainwright, Alberta
Wainwright is a town in east-central Alberta, Canada. It is approximately southeast of Edmonton. Located west of the Alberta–Saskatchewan border, Wainwright is south of Vermilion in the Battle River valley. Highway 41, called the Buffalo Trail, and Highway 14 go through the town. CFB Wainwright is located in Denwood, southwest of Wainwright. History Originally named Denwood by settler James Dawson in 1905, the town was relocated by the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway west-northwest and renamed Wainwright after General William Wainwright, the second vice-president of railway. The original townsite opened with post office in 1907 along with Denwood Hotel and store. The post office and hotel (becoming Wainwright Hotel) relocated to Wainwright in 1908 with the old townsite later becoming CFB Wainwright. Beaver Valley Nitehawks
The Beaver Valley Nitehawks are a junior 'B' ice hockey team based in Fruitvale, British Columbia, Canada. They are members of the Neil Murdoch Division of the Kootenay Conference of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL). The Nitehawks play their home games at Beaver Valley Arena. Stephen Piccolo is the team's president and Terry Jones is the general manager and coach since 2015. They are currently co-captained by forward Morgan Peace and Angus Amadio who were awardedd a bursary in 2020. The Nitehawks joined the league in 1981 as an expansion team. Sylvan Lake Wranglers
The Sylvan Lake Wranglers are a junior "B" ice hockey team based in Sylvan Lake, Alberta, Canada. They are members of the North Division of the Heritage Junior B Hockey League (HJHL). They play their home games at Nexsource Center. Prior to the 2007–08 season the team was known as the Lacombe Wranglers before re-locating to Blackfalds. The Wranglers have won five HJHL championships, three provincial titles (most of any HJHL team), and a Keystone Cup. For the start of the 2019-20 season, Blackfalds moved up to Jr. A hockey and Sylvan Lake became the home of the Wranglers. The Coaldale Copperheads are a Junior "B" Ice Hockey team based in Coaldale, Alberta, Canada. They are members of the South Division of the Heritage Junior B Hockey League (HJHL). They play their home games at Coaldale Arena. The 2014-15 season saw the Copperheads win their first HJHL championship and went on to Hockey Alberta Provincials. The Cannex Cochrane Generals are a Junior "B" Ice Hockey team based in Cochrane, Alberta, Canada. They are members of the South Division of the Heritage Junior B Hockey League (HJHL). The Fairview Flyers are a junior "B" ice hockey team based in Fairview, Alberta, Canada. The team is a member of the North West Junior Hockey League and the 2012–13 season was their inaugural season. History The team was founded as the Fairview Junior Hockey Club in June 2012. The expansion team was officially named the Fariview Flyers in July. In only their third year the Fairview Flyers advanced to the league finals. Although the Flyers lost the championships (they played the North Peace Navigators), circumstances resulted in the team advancing to the Russ Barnes Trophy to determine the Alberta Junior B Provincial Champion. The Red Deer Vipers are a Junior "B" Ice Hockey team based in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. They are members of the North Division of the Heritage Junior B Hockey League (HJHL). They played their home games at Red Deer Arena until 2016 when it was torn down to be rebuilt. The Vipers played home games out of Red Deer's Collicutt Centre which only sat about 500 with standing room for a season & a half. In January 2018, the Vipers returned to downtown Red Deer to play in the new Servus Arena which seats about 1,300.
