WMRP-LP (104.7 FM broadcasting, FM), branded Retro 104.7 is an oldies formatted Broadcasting, broadcast radio station licensed to Mundy Township, Michigan, serving the Mundy Township/Grand Blanc, Michigan, Grand Blanc area. WMRP-LP is owned and operated by SWC Concerts, Inc. History WMRP-LP went on the air in March 2008, but its call sign dates back to 1946, when the now WWCK (AM), WWCK, used it as part of its Middle of the road (music), MOR format and as a broadcast "arm" of the United Methodist Church, from which the station gets its call sign meaning. In 1964, WMRP would spawn an FM station, known as WMRP-FM, which today is WWCK-FM. Neither of the two stations has any other relation to today's WMRP-LP 104.7 than this. WWCK (AM)
WWCK (1570 Hertz, kHz) was a commercial radio, commercial AM radio, AM radio station in Flint, Michigan. It is owned by Cumulus Media and it broadcast a classic hits radio format. Its radio studio, studios were south of the Flint city limits and the AM transmitter was east of downtown Flint near the intersection of M-54 (Michigan highway), Dort Highway and Interstate 69 in Michigan, I-69. At closure, WWCK carried Michigan State Spartans college football and men's basketball. By day, WWCK was powered at 1,000 watts. But because 1570 AM is a Mexican clear channel station, clear channel frequency, WWCK had to reduce power at night to 179 watts to avoid interference. Middle of the road (also known by its acronym MOR) is a commercial radio format.
