WMGV (103.3 FM, "Magic 103.3/95.5") is an adult contemporary music formatted radio station licensed to serve Newport, North Carolina. The station serves Eastern North Carolina with a mix of music from the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s and today. History WMGV has been on the air since the early 1980s. Over the years it has been known as "V103.3", "Classy 103.3, "Kat 103.3", and, back in the 1980s, "Z103". In 1989, Henry Hinton started New East Communications of Greenville, North Carolina. The company's stations were WKQT, WCZI, and WGPM. WKQT was sold in 1996. On February 2, 2017, Beasley Media Group announced that it would sell its six stations and four translators in the Greenville-New Bern-Jacksonville, North Carolina market, including WMGV, to Curtis Media Group for $11 million to reduce the company's debt. WMJV (99.5 FM) is a commercial radio station in Grifton, North Carolina, broadcasting to the Greenville-New Bern-Jacksonville, North Carolina area. WMJV airs a hot adult contemporary format branded as "99.5/97.5 The Wave", along with translator W248BS in Jacksonville. History WVVY played adult contemporary and then R&B music as "Wavvy 99.5" (with no rap) in 1988 through 1993. It switched to country music as WTND and was known as "Thunder Country" until 1996 when the call letters changed to WXNR and the name changed to "New Rock 99X". WNCT (1070 kHz) is an AM radio station broadcasting a beach music format, as "Beach, Boogie and Blues". Licensed to Greenville, North Carolina, United States, the station serves the Greenville-New Bern area. The station is currently owned by Curtis Media Group Inc. History In 1963, Roy H. Park, owner of WNCT-TV, bought WGTC, Greenville's oldest radio station. At the time, the station broadcast at 5,000 watts at 1590 AM. WGTC changed its call letters to the current WNCT two years later. In 1969, WNCT moved to 1070 AM and increased its power to 10,000 watts. Hinton Media Group programmed WNCT when it was " Talk 1070" and aired its programming on local Cable Channel 7. In 2006, WNCT increased its daytime power to 50,000 watts. WIKS (101.9 FM) is an mainstream urban-formatted broadcast radio station licensed to New Bern, North Carolina. The station is owned by Curtis Media Group. WIKS is an affiliate of the Steve Harvey Morning Show. History The 101.9 FM frequency in New Bern signed on with an Album-oriented Rock format in August 1977 as WRBK ("K101"). Delilah Rene Luke (born February 15, 1960) is an American radio personality, author, and songwriter, best known as the host of a nationally syndicated nightly U.S. radio song request and dedication program, with an estimated eight million listeners. She first aired in the Seattle market as Delilah Rene, though she is now known simply as Delilah.
